Marxpreed @ Passion feast of IMT Ghaziabad

Speed, the intensity and the passion in combination with technique and expertise drew smoke on the Marketing battlefield – Marxpeed, at IMT Ghaziabad, leaving the spectators gasping for breath. Each exciting round drew to a nail biting finish as teams got eliminated. It was a bitter end no loser liked. The winners took it all – prizes worth Rs. 40,000 went into the kitty belonging to team MICA. Members Omkar, Ira, Sana and Shrey did little to hide their triumphant smiles. “The event was really well structured and it stood for what it claimed to be – a marketing event which would test us on all elements of marketing. The organizers did a really fantastic job and the competition was really tough. Judges gave us really good feedback. I am going back home happy,” Omkar says.

Team MICA found the feedback from the judges very valuable. They found it to be a learning experience and IMT Ghaziabad pulled out all the stops for Passion ‘11. The hospitality was gracious and, “I think it was remarkable there was so much attention given to detail. Our presentation were analysed so well. The critical evaluation was just brilliant,” Ira smiles.

Purely a Marketing event, Marxpeed had three rounds. Round one was for eliminations. The next two had cumulative scores calculated to judge the winners. Competition was tough. MICA was pitted against IIMA, GPIMS, etc. They had to think even before their feet landed on the ground, and had to come up with marketing solutions with an adrenaline pumping agility. “We didn’t have a lot of time. We were briefed at 11 pm and had to come up with a repositioning for Air India in 12 hours, so that was quite challenging. We only slept for an hour,” Sana is still a little disoriented from that experience.

Their learning experience included finding out that Marketing is about a lot more than having just the right idea or the right people. “It is a combination. You need the perfect idea and the perfect people to carry that idea through AND something more – a combination of the right idea, the right people and ability to execute that idea. So I think its idea, people and execution which does the trick,” Shrey nicely sums it all up.

To next year’s Marxspeed contestants the winners said, “Keep your concepts clear and work on those concepts. Remember: the competition is not only about concepts. It is how you apply your concepts practically. If your concepts are clear, you know them to the core and you can apply them practically, you can crack not only this competition, but every other challenge in real life.”

Three words they used to describe themselves: Dedicated, Efficient and On Time.

Their next challenge was three words to describe IMT Ghaziabad. Pat came the reply: Trustworthy, Experimental and Huge.
