Fennemore Craig Attorneys & Advisors:
Setting up the scene
Fennemore Craig venture Accelerator Program
As you position your new venture for success in the marketplace, you confront many important legal issues that will have
immediate and long-term consequences. For example:
• Should you form your business as an S corporation, a C corporation, a partnership, a joint venture, or a limited
liability company? Will this structure affect how you might raise capital in the future?
• Have you protected your emerging intellectual property—whether through patent applications, trademark
applications, or nondisclosure agreements—from being utilized by other companies or from being leaked from
within your organization?
• Does your new business comply with city, state, and federal requirements and necessary business licenses?
• What benefts are you required to provide for your employees?
• Whom do you turn to when you encounter unanticipated problems or questions?
Through Fennemore Craig’s Venture Accelerator Program, qualifying new businesses and startups can gain access to the
advice, experience and legal documents of a large, sophisticated law frm with a 130 year history of helping clients grow
and protect their business – but on a schedule and a budget designed to facilitate your success.
Clients accepted to the Program will be exempt from our standard retainer requirement, and can defer payment of legal
fees for a certain period of time until the business secures fnancing or achieves meaningful revenues.
Additionally, the Program allows us to demonstrate our commitment to our clients’ success by aligning our interests
accordingly. A separate entity funded by many of our directors will make a small equity investment in relation to the
business founders’ investment.
The Venture Accelerator Program allows Fennemore Craig to leverage its considerable business, fnance, and
entrepreneurial legal expertise to help startup companies become successful. Our vetting process is thorough, and we
seek out companies with compelling business models that cater to unmet market needs.

Startup Tucson grew out of the efforts of a great team of passionate people who volunteered their time over the frst few years. That group came to be known as “Startup Tucson
Organizers”. Our Organizers tend to meet monthly (often, though not always on the 1st Tuesday of each month). There you’ll get a run down of all of the various projects people are
working on, what’s coming up soon and brainstorm ideas for future projects. Examples of projects you can get involved in include:
• Helping organize events like Startup Weekend, Idea Funding, and Hackathons.
• Creating content for marketing including graphic design, logos, or web content.
• Writing content for Startup Tucson News, covering events, doing interview with industry or community leaders, or reporting news about Tucson companies.
