Management Presentation on Rural and Urban Advertisement (PPT)

Description
As the towns and cities of the Middle Ages began to grow, and the general populace was unable to read, signs that today would say cobbler, miller, tailor or blacksmith would use an image associated with their trade such as a boot, a suit, a hat, a clock, a diamond, a horse shoe, a candle or even a bag of flour.

Rural advertising
• Because of globalization, economic liberalization, IT revolution and improving infrastructure, middle class rural India today has more disposable income than urban India • In rural we can build a strong rural base without much advertising support (like Chik and Ghadi ) • Disposable surplus is not low in rural markets • introduced smaller pack sizes • "With changing consumer habits, we have to look at opportunities to grow business."

• The Indian rural market today accounts for only about Rs 8 billion of the total ad pie of Rs 120 billion, thus claiming 6.6 per cent of the total share. • Hindustan Lever Limited (HLL) is top of the mind with their successful rural marketing projects like 'Project Shakti' and 'Operation Bharat'. • . Amul is another case in point of aggressive rural marketing.

• Rural advertising is the basic understanding of the rural consumer which is very different from its urban counterpart. Also distribution is the biggest problem marketers are facing, when it comes to going rural. "Reaching your product to remote locations spread over 600,000 villages and poor infrastructure - roads, telecommunication etc and lower levels of literacy are the few hinges that come in the way of marketers to reach the rural market,"

• 'In order to reach the Indian markets, corporate may have a global strategy but they have to think locally in terms of communication' • special advertisements for rural markets. The recent success of 'Thanda Matlab Coca Cola' campaign which is aimed at the rural market is a case in point. Agencies Focusing On Rural Marketing • Anugrah Madison, Sampark, Rural Relations, O&M Outreach, Linterland etc.
