I am sure many of us have wondered over and over again as to the reason behind the commonality of the occurrence that in this world that the most excellent individuals are wedged in the middle and the individuals who are at the helm of thing s or in other words the leaders are the mediocre people.
Sometimes I arrive at the conclusion that it is so because distinction is more often than not , inclusive of the parameter which gets you up the tower of success. What eggs you on , is an aptitude for manoeuvring. being sycophant towards your immediate and eminent bosses, and pushing away the baggage tagging along with you of their own accord.
Earning the favour of your teachers, pleasing your erstwhile superiors, singling out a potent counsellor and riding his ship till it has as many holes as your coffee filter, stabbing your unsuspecting benefactors in their back, jumping all the way through hoops, prevention by persuasion ; all is a part and parcel of the way of life we all have been directed to – by this ludicrous system .

We spend all our life diligently working towards being whatever other people want us to be. But at the end of the road , even though it is too late to reform our mould , we come to a sudden realization that similar to the cashier at the counter of a government bank to doesn’t even bother to look at people he/she deals with in a jiffy , we have absolutely nothing inside us – that is of our own fabric at all. At one point or the other we stop going along with dim-witted risks in the same vein as our gradual ceasing of trying to change how things are done or question why they’re done.
So, what is a good way to maintain our individuality in this god forsaken world?
The answer lies in writing a memoir or a journal on a regular basis. It is as refreshing as an activity can get. The language need not be anything far fetched, just a gentle reminiscence of your everyday life coupled with your momentous musings , would be more than sufficient to get started at once.
There are countless good reasons behind writing your own memoir that have nothing to do with being officially acknowledged by a publisher. The first and the foremost reason is to leave for your kids and grandchildren a trace of who you were , the events that directed your entity and what legacy they were conceived into.
Time is another reason , you should start off soon. In these fast paced metropolitan lives that most of us lead today , nothing is certain ; a stray bus , a drunken driver, or even a stampede after some demonstration can put us out of commission . At that point of time ; I doubt any of us wants to leave our near and dear ones with just our Insurance payoff………
One more reason is to tint a visual rendering of the township or society, at present by a long way changed from our nascent years, where we grew up, made a lot of friends , went for a walk for the first time with a girl ,where first love blossomed and where the curtains on the same were drawn too. The city comes to life through our reminiscences, prancing through our vivid recollections and rejoicing upon being retold to our younger generations. If you are totally confident that your memory wouldn’t fail you once you cross 60 – then it’s fine, else get started now.
Writing a journal or memoir is also an intoxicating exploration for means, time and again as ready to lend a hand as psychiatric therapy and at a much frugal price. When you start off with writing a little each day , you’ll discover your subliminal mind conveying your past to you, bringing to mind- folks and occasions you have completely forgotten. That expedition of rediscovery is a delight in itself and doesn’t need any supplements.
At the end of the day, writing is a good sense -saving cohort for individuals in times of unhappiness, failure, infirmity, and other misgivings of destiny. With a prompt routine of getting down on manuscript those gloomy details ; provides a self cultivated sanctuary at the times when you are left with no one to count on but yourself.
The majority of these aforementioned memoirs and journals will never be published. They, I am afraid, are too unrefined and frayed, too narcissistic and in some cases - feebly written, hardly ever telling us something we don’t already know. But the fact remains that writing them is fun regardless of acclaim . While planting saplings, if we worry about the deep rooted trees ; it won’t get us anywhere.
