INTRODUCTION
As we are aware that state or rajya was governed by the Raja or King in ancient India who used to lead and guide his prajas or subjects. Even in today’s organisation, the leaders are leading the organisation or a nation to more ahead through proper planning, organizing, directing, controlling and motivating. Here we must note one point that all the managers cannot be leaders, they lack the skills required to be a leader and thus may be ineffective. But the managers are expected to play the role of a leader and influence the followers. All the leaders are not managers. Think about Mahatma Gandhi, Swami Vivekananda, although they are leaders but are not managers.
As far as the responsibilities are concerned, the king (leader) should consider first the people, the interest of his nation. He is responsible for the welfare of his subjects. Here, subjects include along with human beings all the other living and non-living entities. Today’s leaders must think of the nation’s interest, the business organisation’s interest and also for the welfare of all the stakeholders who are directly or indirectly related with the business.
A leader should be able to transform the mentally of the followers in skulk a manner, that they will be totally focused to fulfill organisation’s goals and objectives and provide best service to the organization at the micro level and to the nation at the macro level. they should love their organization, their country and would be ready to do everything for it.
