Aon Corporation (NYSE: AON) is a provider of risk management services, insurance and reinsurance brokerage, human capital and management consulting, and specialty insurance underwriting. It is based in the Aon Center in Chicago Loop Illinois, United States.[3] In July 2007, Aon Corp. was ranked as the world's second largest insurance broker.[4]
Aon was created in 1982, when the Ryan Insurance Group (founded by Pat Ryan in the 1960s) merged with the Combined Insurance Company of America (founded by W. Clement Stone in 1919). In 1987, that company was introduced to Wall Street as Aon, a Gaelic word meaning “oneness”. Combined Insurance was sold to ACE Limited in April 2008.
On August 22, 2008, Aon announced that it had acquired London-based Benfield Group. The acquiring price was US$1.75 billion or £935 million, with US$170 million of debt.[5] Today, the company is best known internationally as the principal sponsor of English football giant, Manchester United.[6][7]
On July 12, 2010, Aon announced that it has agreed to buy Lincolnshire, IL based Hewitt Associates for $4.9 billion in cash and stock.[8]
Michael D. O'Halleran is Executive Chairman of Aon Benfield and Senior Executive Vice President of Aon Corporation. Mike was appointed to lead Aon's reinsurance division at its inception in 1987. Previously, he held several senior operating positions at Aon. Before joining the Firm, he was a senior executive with well-known companies within the insurance industry, including Wausau Insurance Companies, General Reinsurance and Alexander Re. Mike has more than 33 years of experience in the insurance and reinsurance industries. He is also a member of the Economic Club of Chicago and the World Presidents Organization.
In her new role, Mattson will foster collaboration across all practices and geographies to deliver measurable value to new and existing clients. Additionally, she will be responsible for facilitating growth, innovation and distinctive client service in each of Aon Consulting's markets.

Prior to joining Aon Consulting, Mattson served as managing principal and Philadelphia market leader for Towers Perrin, where she worked with employers to develop global human resources and total reward and benefit strategies. Mattson designed and implemented solutions to address clients' business challenges in the automotive, financial, pharmaceutical and manufacturing industries. Additionally, Mattson sat on Towers Perrin's board of directors and was a member of the board's Nominating and Governance Committee.

Mattson earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from St. Olaf College in Northfield, Minn. She was inducted into the YWCA's Academy of Women Leaders in 2005 and currently serves on the boards of the United Way of Southeastern Pennsylvania and the Greater Philadelphia Arts & Business Council.
