Ameriprise Financial, Inc. (NYSE: AMP) is a company that offers comprehensive and personalized financial planning as well as the opportunity to build a long-term relationship with a knowledgeable advisor. It is the successor to American Express Financial Advisors (AEFA), a former subsidiary of the American Express Company. In 2005, American Express spun off AEFA as an independent company. Its new name came into effect August 1, 2005, and the transaction closed on September 30, 2005.

Jim holds a bachelor's degree in accounting and economics and a master's of business administration degree in finance, both from New York University Stern School of Business. He is a licensed Certified Public Accountant in New York State. He is also Series 7 and 24 certified in the United States.
