Leadership is about self

Leadership is about self

Leadership is about self-direction and self-control and shows in our actions. Become the right kind of person (motivated, responsible, achiever) and others will flock around you. However, the path to leadership is not easy and requires finding one's own way. The direction one takes will differ in each case but here are a few key traits one should focus on:

Not every attempt you make will be rewarded with success so be prepared to deal with failures. Be ready to take initiatives and work hard. Do not let the fear of possible failure deter you.

Success comes to those who believe in themselves. It requires being decisive and a willingness to take chances. And yes, to FAIL - but to accept it, learn from it and move on.

A good leader often has a strong sense of duty and an inward desire to do one's best. Set a high standard of excellence for yourself and your team. The team head has to be exacting in character but should be approachable and friendly with the juniors

In the world of business, leadership is the defining ingredient that separates the mediocre from the achiever. It's the act of persuasion. It's getting people to see new perspectives and do things they normally wouldn't do. It's about setting your ego aside and having the passion and charisma to get people to follow you.

It takes courage to go against the crowd and be a true individual, but it's the most exciting, exhilarating thing one can do. It's also the most difficult and frightening. That's why success is so elusive and so rare.

Rapid changes in the world today combined with information overload result in an inability to "know" everything. In other words, reasoning and logic will not get you through all situations. Hence, learn to use intuition and trust your "gut" when making decisions.

Seek advice of the colleagues dealing with that specific function. A good leader should recognize others achievements and encourage them to give the maximum result in their work.
