1. Please tell us about yourself?[/b]
Ans:My name is Kunaey Garg and I am a graduate with a double major in Economics (Hons) and in Business Finance. I successfully pursued my education from Illinois Wesleyan University in the USA. After my graduation, I managed to secure a job as a Commodity Futures Trader for 1.5 yrs at Abengoa Bioenergy Corporation in St Louis, MO. After my work experience, I came back to India and worked in the Industrial Gases Limited in Kolkata while preparing for my entrance exams. In my spare time I enjoy playing and watching football and am an active trader in the equity and commodity markets.

2.What influenced you to take up MBA in NMIMS?[/b]
Ans:NMiMS is ranked as one of the top colleges in the country, and not without reason. The college makes up for its lack of infrastructure by providing quality learning, with its quality professors, by using Harvard based Case Studies and by proving for interesting classroom discussions. Another thing that personally attracted me to this college was because it is located in Mumbai, which is a city thriving with opportunities for a person who is pursuing a career in Capital Markets or in Finance.
3.Could you provide us some insight on the program and its curriculum?[/b]
Ans:The program is broadly divided into 6 trimesters. The first three are aimed at general knowledge about how a business functions and includes all the four aspects of running a business, including marketing, finance, HR and operations. The second year (4th trim) is when the students get to choose their specialization, after which, they get divided into their various streams. [/b]
4. What are the opportunities available in your institute to gain practical knowledge?[/b]
A variety of corporate projects keep appearing for students to gain a hands on experience. We also are pioneers of the We Care program, which is a compulsory internship with an NGO for 3 weeks. This exposes students to the underprivileged sections of India as well. We also have industry visits where the students are sent to various organizations for a visit and can see and feel the office environment of their future employers.
5. Are there committees within the institute to foster students' knowledge sharing and interaction?[/b]
The college has various ‘cells’ which are geared towards the different aspects of business. For example, we have ‘Nepathya’, which is a cultural cell; ‘Not Just Marketing’ which is a cell based on marketing and ‘Finomenon’ – the finance cell.
These cells, coupled with activities from the Placement Committee and Student Council allow for student knowledge sharing and interactions.
6. Name some of the major events organized by your institute?[/b]
Parichay – the orientation programme
Paragana – the annual business festival
Euphoria – The annual cultural festival
7. How do you think your work experience is contributing towards MBA?[/b]
I feel my work experience helps me gain an edge over the competition. I can relate real world experiences to the knowledge I gain in class and as a result I can provide real world examples of how theory is used in practice.
8. What do you think is the most important attribute a student must possess to be successful in management education?[/b]
He must be hard working, curious and have a desire to learn. He must also hone and develop his people skills.
9. How would you describe life @ NMIMS in short?[/b]
Exciting – a new discovery everyday. A fresh perspective on old problems, with sprinkles of fun thrown in on the side.
