DAY 1 AT KRONOS – Nov 30, 2012
Day One at “Kronos – The Agribusiness Zone of Confluence 2012” explored technologies that increase farm productivity and the measures undertaken by corporations to create shared value for small farmers. With eminent speakers such as Mark Kahn, Venture Partner, Omnivore Capital and Nancy Barry, Founder & President of Enterprise Solutions to Poverty, the stage was set for an inspiring, thought provoking set of ideas that can potentially revolutionize the realm of agribusiness.
Mark Kahn spoke about “The future of AgTech in India” where he emphasized the scope of entrepreneurship and disruptive innovations in agricultural technology. Ms. Nancy Barry emphasized that agribusiness leaders should focus on creating bundled services by having deeper engagements with farmers, pulling value chain pieces together and working together for shared value.
Events conducted included Aavishkar the B Plan Competition with representation from all parts of India and a host of ideas ranging from agri-finance opportunities to the pilot launch of a patented formulation. Food N Feud was the big verbal duel on “Money Markets will not subdue food inflation in India”. Commerciante conducted in collaboration with NCDEX gave the participants a real time simulation of trading on the commodities exchange.
DAY 2 AT KRONOS – Dec 1, 2012
On day two, the students were able to gain the corporate edge with speaker sessions by Mr. Akshaya Kamath (Territory Head South Asia; Syngenta) and Mr. Atanu Chakraborty (Managing Director, GSFC). The events included Green Initiatives an event showcasing ideas that will help India go Green and The Syngenta Challenge: the case study competition in collaboration with Syngenta for the first time.
