KhapPanchyats are not tenable in the modern society.

In India, we associate KhapPanchayats with honor killing and the oppression of women. Last month, a KhapPanchayat in the Khedar village of Hisar district prohibited youngsters from using mobile phones and banned girls from wearing T-shirts and jeans. They claimed that improper dressing of women is the reason for an increase in the number of rape cases in the country. This is not indicative of a modern society.

I am completely agree with your point. Khap Panchyat can also be also referred to as caste councils which was introduced in the 14th century. Work of he Khap Panchyat is to take care of the administrative issues in the rural area and they have the full control over the peoples. Today do we need it in our country where the government and the Supreme Court tackle administrative and legal issues?
