“Woman set on fire by husband and in-laws for not meeting dowry demands.”
Does this statement ring a bell? Of course, it does! You have come across this a million times in The Telegraph, The Times of India, Hindustan Times, etc. Dowry has been one social evil that has plagued India from time immemorial and is still plaguing the poor. Every girl starts dreaming about her wedding day right from when she is little and playing with dolls. But for girls in poverty-stricken families, even the real wedding day is filled with grief. Not only is she leaving her father’s house and going to that of a stranger’s but her father is also being stripped of everything he has worked so hard for in his life in the name of dowry.
Dowry has ripped thousands of fathers and daughters from families. It is high time we put an end to this and make sure the daughter is no more considered a burden to her father but an angel! And Kanyadaan Foundation is here to do just that!
Mr. Yaduvanshi, was running his wedding planning business MyShaadiWale Wedding Planners when he got acquainted with the kind of money involved in a wedding, the dreams and plans of the bride and above all the happiness of the bride’s family. It then hit him that there were so many girls who were so pressed for the dowry that either they or their fathers commit suicide to avoid this kind of expenditure. The father pays through his nose for his daughter’s happiness, but she is tortured for money even after marriage!
So Mr. Yaduvanshi put a new, noble plan into action and Kanyadaan Foundation was born. Kanyadaan Foundation aims to arrange the marriages of many girls who do not have enough money to fund their marriage. We arrange for donors from all over the world and call them ‘kanyadaaners.’ They can actually come and perform the kanyadaan for the bride they have donated for. In the process, they will have gained a daughter and her gratitude!
Our main goal is to make sure most girls suffering from a paucity of funds are married happily, and the bride’ family does not have to sacrifice everything they have for the wedding. The venue, the food, apparel for the bride and groom, sindoor and mangalsutra is arranged for by Kanyadaan Foundation.
To spread the news far and wide, Kanyadaan Foundation has set up “kanyadaan camps” across the country for more brides and kanyadaaners to participate. All you have to do is register your name- for marriage or for donation. If you are a young girl who wants to get married, we will arrange for funds via a donor and arrange for your wedding. And if you are someone who is kind enough to make these girls’ wedding day memorable, we will give you the portal for donation and give you the day for your bride’s wedding so that you can come, perform kanyadaan and bless her on this auspicious day.
We request everybody is reading this article to give this cause a deep thought. You might be privileged enough but there are millions of girls out there who are terrified of their marital future-whether or not she’ll ever get married or how many days will pass in her marital home before she is murdered for not meeting dowry demands. Dowry and dowry-related suicide need to be swiped clean from the society. Marriage is to provide happiness to two people and the wedding day is the happiest day for the two families. But what if the bride and her father dread this day?
So think about it and please try to contribute. This is needed to save the lives of little girls and their fathers.
