Abstract:
The objective of this project is to study the process of implementation of kanban to a system for Lucas-TVS and its suppliers. The kanban system and the steps of implementing it are studied from various references.
At the Lucas TVS, Padi the current system and the problems prevailing in the system are observed. The parameters determining kanban process are collected and the required calculations for the kanban process are done. A kanban system for the components supplied by two of the TVS suppliers was designed.
The functioning of the current system was compared with the new kanban design on the inventory level. The new kanban design provides a better inventory solution compared to current system. The new kanban system can deliver an excellent Just in time delivery when the conditions of functioning are followed up correctly.
