Summer Placements @ JBIMS: The Golden Dominion

The stature of the companies that participated in the Summer Placement Season, 2014, yet again enhanced the Bajaj legacy. The granting of autonomy to JBIMS in its golden jubilee year has received high acclaim in the industry. The Institute aspires to give a new meaning to the word 'excellence' and in this endeavour it is being supported and guided by its illustrious alumni who have come together to give a new direction to the now autonomous business school, in the form of a new curriculum, a new intake policy and a new campus. Building on this positive note, JBIMS triumphed with a record-breaking performance in the summer placement process for the batch of 2016.

The summer placement season at JBIMS concluded on a high note by achieving 100% placements in accordance to the standards set in the previous years. Established recruiters were happy with the talent acquired and faced tough competition from a large number of new recruiters. Students also enjoyed the versatility and flexibility of a comprehensive set of profiles. Two of the most coveted global consulting firms - McKinsey & Co. and The Boston Consulting Group were also a part of theprocess. This repeat of a perfect record, coupled with an extended list of recruiters instilled the traditional insignia of excellence, trust and consistency.

Batch Profile

The batch diversity is clearly manifested as a mix of engineers, doctors, pharmacists, entrepreneurs, chartered accountants, economists, management students and commerce graduates comprising the best talent from across the country participated in the placement process. Students with experience in diverse fields such as manufacturing sector, audit, consulting, HR, pharmaceutical industry, banking & financial services form the core of the batch. Consequently, the versatile backgrounds of the students coupled with a plethora of industrial experience attracted diverse and niche profiles from a multitude of companies.

The Summer Placement Overview

Internships that form a part of the curriculum provide the students with the opportunity to gain first-hand experience of the work and work environment in their chosen field of expertise and help them understand their interests and accordingly decide the course their career should take. Over the years, JBIMS has provided an effective platform for its students to make their first impressions inside the corporate offices of global companies - and this legacy continues in its golden jubilee year as well. Analysis of Key Sectors

CONSULTING

Consulting profile took a giant leap with organizational powerhouses of the world, McKinsey & Co. and BCG visiting the campus, along with JLL, DTZ and others. They offered the Junior Associate profile which is one of the most sought after profiles across all B-Schools. The enhanced depth in the consulting industry was an achievement and sets the tone for JBIMS to be one of the stalwarts in the consulting field.

BANKING AND FINANCIAL SECTOR

The Banking and Financial Sector has been a traditional stronghold with companies such as Citibank, Standard Chartered Bank, HSBC, ICICI Bank, ING Vysya, Tata Capital, Indiabulls, Met Life, UV Capital, BMR Advisors, HDFC Property Venture etc. who have reinstated their faith in JBIMS as one of the primary finance destinations of the country by visiting the campus yet again. Goldman Sachs and JP Morgan made their presence felt by offering some of the most coveted roles in the industry. The gamut of profiles offered were investment banking, equity research, transaction banking, retail banking, and strategic business development to name a few.

FMCGs & PHARMACEUTICALS

JBIMS continued its association with FMCG majors such as Hindustan Unilever Ltd., Procter & Gamble, Colgate-Palmolive, Marico, HCCB, Danone etc. A large percentage of the students were offered attractive roles in sales and marketing in the FMCG sector. The Pharmaceutical industry majors like Abbott, BMS, Merck Pharmaceuticals, Janssen Pharmaceuticals visited the campus and recruited a substantial number of candidates. They offered flexible profiles like market research and data analysis, in addition to the existing sales and marketing profiles. Corporate Finance roles were offered as well by FMCG behemoths Procter & Gamble, Hindustan Unilever Ltd. and Danone.

MANUFACTURING SECTOR & CONGLOMERATES

Diverse profiles across multiple domains such as real estate, chemical and manufacturing were offered by leading business conglomerates such as Mahindra & Mahindra, Godrej & Boyce, Schlumberger, Tata Steel, Raymond, AkzoNobel, Maersk Shipping, Larsen & Toubro, Coldwell Banker, Mattel Toys etc. as a part of the summer placement process. Students had the opportunity to choose from varied profiles such as ERP, Business Process Consulting, General Management, and Strategy. These companies hired in good numbers from the campus, thus strengthening their association with JBIMS. Tolaram Group offered Sales & Marketing roles based out of Nigeria.

OTHERS

An ideal opportunity was offered to the students to kick-start their careers in the online retail and telecom sector. The increasing recognition and impact of the students of JBIMS in the industry was exemplified by the presence of companies like Vodafone, Whirlpool, Flipkart, Reliance Communications, DraftFCBUlka, Brandcare etc. Also, this time, numerous roles in the IT sector were offered by reputed companies like Tata Consultancy Services, Wipro, Nucleus Software etc.

  • JBIMS has once again showcased its consistency by being the preferred campus for the industry and had 100% placements in a matter of days

    The highest stipend offered was Rs.3,35,000 with the average being Rs.1,17,000

    The institute hosted a large number of new recruiters on campus to add to the legacy recruiters

    JBIMS attracted two of the biggest global consulting firms - McKinsey & Co. and BCG

    The Banking and Financial sector offered attractive profiles such as investment banking, corporate banking, commercial banking, risk, equity research and transaction banking

Conclusion

The overwhelming response from recruiters for the Batch of 2016, combined with the successful developmental plans for the institute in its golden jubilee year amalgamated into an excellent placement season.

The industry has put in a lot of faith in JBIMS and we, as always, have reciprocated that with a record summer placement season. The success of the summer placement process for the batch of 2016 has paved the way to continuing the same success and breaking more records in the executive placement season for the batch of 2015.
