"A Month in My Life at JBIMS"[/b]

[/b]Imagine yourself to be a morbidly obese couch potato who believes in taking it easy in life. You live by your own rules and procrastination is the religion that you adhere to. Suddenly, you are caught by the scruff of the neck and placed on a treadmill that is functioning at maximum speed. The only way you can save yourself is by keeping pace with the treadmill and holding on to dear life. The above analogy best describes the severe culture shock that I received during my transition from being a lazy engineer to a prim and proper Bajajite.[/b]
After my engineering exams had mercifully ended, I indulged in hedonism to the fullest and elevated the term slothfulness to an entirely new level. The first day at my dream B-School was coming closer and I blissfully shopped for formals, all the while conjuring elaborate daydreams (most of them involving me sitting in a CEO’s chair). D-day finally arrived and smashed all my preconceived notions into a pulp.
The first lesson that I learnt was that time is a deity at JBIMS. ‘Bajaj time’, as it is known on campus cannot and must not be taken for granted ever for it is one of the primary pillars of the Bajaj way of life. The next fortnight was perhaps the most testing time of my life. In that short period I learnt to manage my time properly, survive on minimal hours of sleep and submit assignments at the end of the day.
Later, in due course of time , the regular lectures started and the faculty blew us away with their absolute command of the subjects. The pedagogic approach that we were used to was thrown out of the window and we started learning from live industry examples. We were also treated to a plethora of guest lectures from corporate stalwarts who constantly provoked us to think and challenge ourselves.
By the time the month ended, I was transformed into a drastically different person. I learnt to respect time and to pride myself on following a rigorous work ethic. If a month could achieve this much, I am really looking forward to what two years can. It is not for nothing that JBIMS is called a CEO’s factory.
