JBIMS Concludes its Inter B School and
Corporate Festival
"Prayaag '10"
Jamnalal Bajaj Institute of Management Studies (JBIMS) recently concluded its Inter B-School and Corporate festival, Prayaag ‘10, which was held from 29th to 31st October 2010. Literally translated as "confluence of thoughts", Prayaag is a festival that brings forth the talent of some of the best minds from the corporate world. And the festival at JBIMS, this season, did just that.
The theme for Prayaag ‘10 was “Dynasties”, and the events were designed and revolved around the theme. The theme signifies some of the greatest empires that India has witnessed in the past, and is also a reflection of its economic might in the future.
The event was inaugurated Mr. Niraj Bajaj, Chairman & MD, Mukand Ltd., part of the Bajaj group of companies, and is also a member of the board of directors of Bajaj Auto, Bajaj Allianz Life, General Insurance Co. Limited and various other Bajaj Group companies. Mr. Niraj Bajaj is also the grandson of The Late Mr. Jamnalal Bajaj, after which the institute is named. Keeping in line with the theme, he addressed the students on the topic - “Family-managed businesses in a globalised economy: Challenges and opportunities.” Mr. Bajaj enlightened the students with the challenges and opportunities that are faced by family owned companies in India.
Prayaag ‘10 not only included some of the regular events like Kwizkraft, Treasure hunt, Press conference, but also witnessed a lot of new events from various areas like finance, marketing, operations, etc. Some of the notable one’s were:
Guerrilla Warfare - an ambush marketing event
Chaanakyaneeti - a Mergers and Acquisitions event
Nagarseth - a selling and negotiations event
Battlefield - a below the line marketing event
Scroll of Honour - Wacky CV Nakakshee – an ad event
GIC King of Kings-a reinsurance event
Oracle – a divestment strategy event

Also, a unique event this year was Kalyani Live where the finalists had to cover Prayaag ‘10 and the team which gave the best 20 minutes coverage were declared the winners.
Kwizkraft, the signature event of Prayaag, was held in association with UBI on the final day of the 3 days festival. As per tradition, corporate and B School students participated in large numbers. This year it was held at Vidyapeeth Vidyarthi Bhavan, and as per the Prayaag tradition, it was hosted by ace quiz master, Mr. Dhananjay Shettigar of QuizMonks, and the event witnessed a lot of corporate participation from companies like TCS, HUL, JP Morgan, UBI etc.
Various on-the-spot events and fun games were the few add-ons this season. Through the years all the events have seen tremendous participation from B-schools in Mumbai and outside, and also from the corporate world. Prayaag ‘10 saw participation from a host of B-Schools across the country including the IIM’s, XLRI, FMS, SP Jain, NMIMS etc. This year Prayaag saw a footfall of about 4,000 students and corporate entries. The partners for the various events this year were Union Bank of India, State Bank of India, General Insurance Corporation of India, Bank of Maharashtra, Incredible India, Nissan, Spykar, Tata McGraw Hill, Barista Lavazza, Dare2Compete.com. Prayaag ‘10 was conducted on a grander scale this season, with prizes worth over Rs. 9 lakh for its winners.
