Hello guys,

I plan to start an IT awareness quiz...... which will help u to learn more about computers, software, networks, etc.

The questions shall be mixed and from one the IT topics.

I would be giving u a question (and some hints) and u would have to answer it.

A card has 12 rows and 80 columns.

In 1880, he developed a device called punched card.

Coding of data is done by punches on cards called ‘Hollerith code’.

One should have some knowlege of the forefathers of the present day computers. Anyway, this question is relatively very simple!

chal ab yeh try maar..... this is pretty simple!



It is memory resident all the time.

In UNIX it manages physical resources like disks,tapes,terminals,communication lines

It is an allocator and manager of main memory in an OS.

What is it?

i've already given u the hints....... there are mainly 2 kinds of data transfer modes, right?? Now look at the last hint...... Pretty easy to figure out. Anyway, will be giving the answer by tomorrow.

Answer to this is: DMA mode of data transfer.

Whenever, DMA mode of data transfer is initiated DMA controller sends DMA request to processor, after receiving it processor sends DMA acknoledgement to DMA controller, after it DMA controller sends HOLD signal. So after receiving HOLD signal Processor relinquishes the control of Address bus and Data bus.
