IS WORK/ LIFE BALANCE ACHIVEABLE?????

Many of us ,face problems in striking a balance between professional and the personal life.We have a mad rush to succeed as quickly as possible and the image of start-up entrepreneurs working 18-hour days and living at the office became much more common during the dotcom boom. Flush with venture capital, entrepreneurs frantically struggled to get established in what was a brand-new marketplace. To be sure, some succeeded. Many more burned out before their 30th birthdays.

Is it still necessary to work hard to start a business? Absolutely. Is there sacrifice involved? Most likely. But do you have to sacrifice everything for it? No.

Do you remember when you first started your business? You were a Happy Entrepreneur, life full of passion, dreaming of a balanced life and business success. You were a successful entrepreneur in the making!

Then somewhere along the way, routine and reality set in and your business success became more and more distant. To cope, you put your work life balance on hold.

Do you want to re-capture passion in life and re-awaken the Happy Entrepreneur inside of you?

Would you like to have more time for the important people in your life and get back your work life balance?

It is possible to run a successful business while enjoying life to the fullest.

It starts with strategically re-thinking and prioritizing what's important in your life. It's a fact that there is not enough time in the day to do everything that you'd like to do.

Keep in mind that whatever sacrifices you make, your family also makes. If children are in the picture, then their physical and emotional needs must still be met. This need not be complicated; much of what they require is simple in nature. Being present to go to school engagements, for example, is a simple thing but still gives them emotional support. You have to make certain you don't let this sudden rush of energy you'll inevitably have as an entrepreneur seem wrong to your children. Make sure they feel it in a positive sense, and let some of that enthusiasm and energy spill over to them.

In order to both be a successful entrepreneur AND have a balanced life, you need to know this success secret and tackle this challenge from two fronts:

1. In business - Allocate your time and run your business as efficiently as possible, and

2. In life – Build and maintain your "non-business" relationships, interests and other areas that create passion in life, zest and fun!

Studies have shown that your attitude and your mindset determine the level of business success and happiness in life more than anything else. But our thinking is not always "on top". That's natural. Often the day-to-day grind gets in the way, we lose our work life balance, we stop doing what successful entrepreneurs do, and we forget the passion in life.

If you keep doing what you've been doing you'll probably keep getting what you've been getting. IF YOU'RE NOT HAPPY WITH WHAT YOU HAVE RIGHT NOW, YOU NEED TO MAKE SOME CHANGES! You ask: "Am I doing everything wrong?" Of course not. Most of what you are doing works just fine. But sometimes a few small changes can have a drastic effect on your business success and the passion in life.

Many of the business activities on your plate can be delegated or outsourced to free up your time. It's true, they may not get done as well as you do them, but does everything have to be completed in your style? Maybe letting go a little can free up your time for more important activities...

Some items are strategically important to your entrepreneurial success and need to be handled yourself. Oftentimes, a bit of re-think will help you deal with these tasks in a more expedient fashion than today. E.g. how are you on time management? Prioritizing? Are you up to date on technology that can cut your workflow?

Then there are the activities that with a little innovation you can stop doing altogether – the true time wasters. Another success secret is that successful entrepreneurs find them and delete them!

Remember, your cell phone has an "off" switch--use it to give yourself a little precious time to yourself and your loved ones. You most likely have voice mail, e-mail and fax capabilities, so people can relay messages to you when you're not available and get a timely response once you've taken some time away and re-energized your spirit. It may seem as though you need to devote every minute of the day to your new business, but in the long run, this sort of fanatical devotion will actually hurt the business when you start to run out of steam. If you work hard and take time for yourself and your family on a regular basis, you'll find yourself succeeding to even greater heights than you had ever imagined.
