In India, teachers were once venerated as gurus. Today the profession retains none of that aura. The concept of education has also changed dramatically as time goes.........

What's your take on this ???

Is teaching really become a thankless job???

Wht i feel.........>>>

Pay package is not enough to deal with high levels of inflation..... inadequate infrastructure of schools & colleges..... no respect from students........ these r d some reasons that teachers does not take full-time teaching nowdays as it has not remained a great option anymore. They pursue their education on one hand and gives secondary role to teaching...

As today classes system also have been brought up into picture, teachers also don't take much efforts to teach well to students in colleges and schools.... so overall value of teaching profession has gone down... So, students also doesn't give respect to them.............

So i wud say.... teaching is no more a lucrative profession ..... !!!

Children no longer say that they want to be teacher when they grow up......The situation has worsened because of the increase in gap b/w teacher and student....Commitment of teachers has become an issue of concern because Govt is not supporting them and many of them are teaching without pay since the last 4-5 months .

Teaching profession has lost its sheen in our country..There has been a dearth of teachers in our country both at primary education level and also in other professions like engineering ..The pay scale is very low for them .. Gradually they started shifting to other professions also.. The standards of primary education in our country is abysmal. I read an article recently in hindu paper how governement rather than hiring more teachers, make them teach for students of mutiple grades in govt schools.. This is the pathetic state in our country.. It is a vicious circle that students dont give respect to teachers and teachers dont teach the students properly..A solution can be as follows: Increase the payroll for existing teachers, improve the standards of education system with a special emphasis on primary education ... As a student, one is ought to venerate the teachers and as a teacher, one should teach well. Rather than just taking classes for students, they should act as proper mentors in guiding the students in a proper direction..

Ya, nice topic. Today its more of co-education even for teachers. Means learning n sharing knowledge and experiences. Lost the aura, they r no longer revered as Gurus. Can say its accord to changing times. Its gud in one way, that is interaction is more informal these days. Only thing is one shud not loose respectability, being friendly n approachable is gud for teachers.

I think the Guest Lectures / Industry Exp. concept shud be promoted even to the bottom level education, coleges, schools, wherever possible to enhance the quality of education and to produce stereotypes.

Teaching is no more lucrative job in this world.Ppl depend more on internet than on teachers for doubt clarification. Moreover, teaching is also taking new shape with the advent of new technologies.E-learning is slowing taking-off in India. So dependancy on teachers has reduced. Moreover,Teachers are not paid properly. So ppl are not interested in teaching. So the job has lost its sheen.Even teachers are ready to enter any BPO or call centers to make their living. They are even ready to train corporate ppl.
