Is it good to allow foreign universities??

Hi folks,

recently the govt had approved a bill stating the foreign universities can establish their universities in india. give ur views on this, whether it is good or bad

this will definately help in achieving OUR INDIA 2020 goal , we are going to be the youngest (max young people population) country of the world , to make this generation capable enough huge investment need is there in the field of education to cater education need of our people and then only they can contribute

yeah it is very good decision taken by our government.

well that could be good on our part , better education,better faculty and better facility . but theres gonna be some catch , that is better indian students !

Under the rules proposed for foreign universities, they will not be allowed to set up franchisees. They will be granted a deemed university status under Section 3 of the University Grants Commission Act and they will have to ensure that the quality of programmes is comparable to the ones offered back home.

Even though 100% foreign direct investment through the automatic route has been permitted in the education sector since 2000, none of the foreign institutes has so far been allowed to enter the Indian market directly. They have had to operate in collaboration with Indian institutes.
