As every one know there has been hiring freeze going on everywhere around the world. Leave aside those experienced people. Lets think about freshers. Look at Google, Facebook and many other big corporations. They too started their respective companies when they were still in college. So is it a good idea for young graduates to start their own start up in these difficult times.

IMO, some experience is required to start your own business; however, if one have some guidance or support from experienced people, one can plan. Also, in which area you are planning to enter, for instance, service sector or manufacturing, what core competency is needed, what are the CSF to survive in the that particular segment.

Well i think starting a company is always a good idea but the thing which you need for that is first of all a good and unique business idea and strong support of resources. In India at present 1000s of companies are operating in different areas but only few make their name in the market, and reason for that is their different way of working, good strategies, innovative and new ideas. Yes you can go for lauching a company but before that try to point out some new areas of operations which in the past are never being explored or very less utilized.

Based on my practical experience, I feel that even if you have your own established business, one should work for others ( 2-3 years ), gain experience an then manage your own business or start a new venture.

i totally agree with abinowbhat....
Working under some1 would give you the feel as to how it feels to be an employee which actually could help in being a good employer which in turns would assure a good team for the better business management.:SugarwareZ-141:

nopes,..its not at all a good idea to start a company after graduation, because even if you try to manage funds or invest some money for your business, you will need experience to run your business, its risky, and it involves a very go through of the market strategies and responsibilities. so it would be better if you know something before you step into it or take bigger decisions.

It is a good idea to start a company but not immediately after graduation... since it is a time for you to take the experience how businesses are run and become multi geographical. So it is important to first have a great understanding and experience in the business line you want to be.

I think, it very much depends on an individual's capacity to take risk...if you think you've what it takes to the hit in case you dont succeed and you have a very strong belief in your idea..by this i mean that you can run with it for years without being demotivated by what happens then go for it...its rare that a business grows manifold in a couple of years..one has to keep running with it..keep believing in it!..on the other hand if you're not confident then dont start a company at any point...your passion is the only thing that will show you success...job has its advantages for sure..but it has its disadvantages...i personally believe that working for a big company will teach you processes but it will also limit your thinking to those processes...you will not innovate...wont be creative and just accept that an already established company is following those processes so they must be right...

anyways..in short..there is no right or wrong time to start a business..it is the right person with the right mindset/passion that will make you successful...Cheers!

well coming to the point whether it is good or not to start a company after graduation means its a good one because we will become the entrepreneur and have our own business and will also be able to give employment for many people but the point here is that in order to start and run a business we should have thorough knowledge of what kind of business to start, how to start, when to start, what planning should be done, what are the steps to be taken and what i should do for the continuous success of my organization and the most important thing to start a business is money if we are set with all this things and if we have confidence enough to take and handle risk then starting a company is a good idea.

well...i think starting a company soon after graduation involves a lot of risk ..as we are quite fresh and are not much aware of the market which is extremely mandatory to get on with a new business or a company...instead gaining some experience in the concerned field will involve lesser risk and will be quite motivating .

i dont think its a good option to start a business straight away after the college..... cause we can only see few big companies, in my opinion they have luck ,thatsy they became that much success full..... but there are many more companies which are not so succesfull beacuse they dont have luck.... so in the absence of luck we need to have some experience so that we can start our own business.....

i think before starting a company of his own, one should first gain some corporate work experiance to understand the challenges of managing a business, also understand the risks involved. Apart from that it is always a good idea to be financially sound before venturing into a new business.

Well that depends : track down this topics and qualify yourself to start business:

1) Introduction of the proposed project
2) Your qualifications and accessibility and eligiblity to handle such proposal
3) Do you have any sound idea abou the market of the product your proposal and future market for the same
4) Do you know the financial requiremenst of the proposal , i:e; Capital invvestment(plant and machinery & MFA's), working capital requirements for such proposal for such units minimum 3 months cycle , other overheads and options of finance available and the most suited form
5) Management & Man power requirement
6) Technologival requirement
and few others to be consulted with the expert , if you know the answers for this a rough sketch of it , than you are good to go , say you are committed otherwise find a suitable job gather experience and then go for self entrepreneurships

According to me one should start his own business when he is confident abt himself.
It should not matter how much experience he has as long as he is ready to run his own business and fully prepared.

Discipline could a key factor in running a business. If one thinks that by gaining some Work exp he will b better equipped then he should go and work in some co.

Starting a company is almost like nuturing a baby. You cannot fully learn everything and then start. But there are certain basic elements of business that one must know so that the process of learning and implementing would be easier.
First of all one must know what is takes to start a company, manage a company and run profitably with a longer vision in mind.

Try to get your answers clear about these before starting any business.

Like any work you need to know about what you are doing- know about the business by doing proper industry and business research. Then just take action and move on...

Dileep.

I think it depends on how much clarity you have on what you want to do. If you only have a dream to open a company and have not worked out on the details part it is better to spend some time firming up your plan and then launching your company.

It depends on the desire and drive of the individual. It also is dependent on the individual's traits. If entrepreneurhip traits are missing then inspite of adequate capital and trained & experienced manpower, the individual may not survive for long in the market considering the stiff competition and market dynamics

thats very true and one should always look forward to start a new venture just after graduation
there might be some hickups in the beginning but with time and expericene things get right
and in 99% times its true
