Is economic improvement more important than environmental protection?
The world is using more resources than the planet can provide, ie we are borrowing off the future, gobbling up the planet. The worst offenders by far are Americans who use 5 times their share.
The cause is capitalism. What do we need? Adverts on the telly trying to persuade you to buy a new car? Or a massive government programme to build networks of trams, light rail, computer driven taxis, trains, buses, etc all running on green energy?
The answer seems obvious. There is not enough room for all the cars anyway, with congestion wasting billions of man hours every day.
Do we need to buy processed food flown thousands of miles and placed into packages?
Or should we have cheap community restaurants providing health locally and organically grown meals at cost?
