Q. When did you join the teaching profession? Why did you choose to be a professor?

A. "TEACHING and LEARNING have been my passions since decades. When I was in the Industry I used to teach my juniors subordinates, students who visited our unit for training etc. I was closely associated with the Training College of my unit. When I joined the Bank I kept on teaching managers clerks, students, entrepreneurs, ladies, etc. I was invited by many banks and financial institutions and Govt bodies to deliver lectures on various topics/subjects.

I know my STRENGTHS so I keep teaching to encase my strengths. Teaching is the noblest profession I feel as it can make a lot of difference in the lives of persons whom we teach or interact with. The feedback that I get and the blessings I get keep me positively charged and motivated even today at the age of 65!!"

Q. Tell us something about yourself and your institute?

A. Basically I am a B Tech Mech and have a PGDBM. Worked in Industry for 7 years. Switched over to BANKING. Retired from BANK OF INDIA as a CHIEF MANAGER in 2009 at the age of 60. Presently enjoying my second innings as a GUEST/VISITING FACULTY in a few colleges in New Delhi teaching MBA/BBA/PGDBM Students and sharing my experience and expertise with the New Generation.

Q. What about teaching at B-Schools inspire you the most?

A. I feel text books are merely instruments to pass the exams and get a degree / diploma but when the students enter the big bad world they have to face the harsh realities and a tough completion to get a job that gives them opportunities to learn to grow to prosper and become some one really useful to the society. They need to be motivated to give back something to the society. So I make it a point to go beyond the text books and share my knowledge and experience with the students to help them think and analyze and grow!!

Q. Which subjects do you teach? Which ones do you like the most?

A. EXCEPT for Accounting and Computers, I can teach any subject and am teaching various subjects to various students in various colleges. I like Marketing, Advertising. BANKING, HRM, E Business, Strategic Management and some other subjects too.

Q. What is your teaching philosophy?

A. Work Hard, Give Your Best To Your Students To Make Them Really Knowledgeable And Good Future Responsible Citizens!!

Q. Do you believe teaching should be more application based than theory? If yes, then how do you support it?

A. "YES I am a firm believer of this dictum. I make my own case studies based on my readings from the business news papers and business magazines and make them think and analyze them. I also encourage Role Playing and tell them to learn new Skills especially soft skills. I encourage them to develop a reading habit and keep in touch with what is happening around us every day."

Q. Who in your life has influenced you the most?

A. My school teachers, my college teachers my senior managers in industry and in the bank. All of them have added valuable experiences to my life and have helped me to grow and mature and become a better person.

Q. What suggestions would you like to make in the courses you teach?

A. Go Out Of The Prescribed Syllabus In Text Books. Teach Them New Skills, Make Them Visit Industries And Submit Their Reports On What They Saw What They Learnt Etc Invite Self Made Entrepreneurs To Share Their Experiences With Them. Teach Them How To Participate In Group Discussions And How To Prepare For Job Interviews, How To Prepare For Competitive Exams Etc.

Q. As a faculty, what kind of projects do you expect students to work upon?

A. REAL LIFE PROJECTS that can make a huge difference in the lives of others. Do not follow the herd. Take innovation to new heights. Add value to your experience etc.

Q. How are current technological advancements changing your teaching style?

A. YES today I even teach in a college that uses MOOCs (Massive Open On line Courses) to deliver students the best in various subjects sitting in their homes and/ or going to a centre near to their place of stay. INTERNET has changed our lives. GOOGLE is today’s GOD! New technologies make our lives enjoyable convenient and livable! Often I feel i was born 10 years early (I was born in 1949).I sees my son growing and prospering in the field of SOFTWARE. He teaches me. I learn from him .GOD BLESS HIM.

Q. What is the impact of mobile technology boom influencing your area of specialization?

A. Yes Today The World Has Really Become A Global Village With So Much Connectivity With The Outside World. I Keep Reading About New Technologies Under Development And Share Them With My Students. [/b]

Q. How is social media influencing your discipline?

A. TODAY SOCIAL MEDIA is an important part of OUR life! SOCIAL MEDIA MARKETING is IN. I USE FACEBOOK to teach my students! I POST INTERESTING ARTICLES for my students to read and react. I take photos of some of my sessions and post them on FB STUDENTS REACT POSITIVELY TO SUCH THINGS TODAY! SO SOCIAL MEDIA is really helpful to connect senior persons like me with the GenNext!

Q. How does the economy story of India change your discipline?

A. I keep reading the media reports about the latest economic developments in our country and often share my views with my students with a view to help them to develope a vision for the next few years or so. We are really living in interesting times today I BELIEVE ! God Bless Me !! [/b]

Q. What changes do you see on the horizon in your area of discipline?

A. More focus on harnessing new technology to deliver best teaching practices and methodologies to empower the students to become useful to the society.

Q. One touching incident that happened to you in your teaching career?

A. I believe that: WHAT EVER GOOD YOU DO IN LIFE COMES BACK TO YOU TEN FOLD IN THIS VERY LIFE.NOT IN NEXT LIFE. Many such incidents have been there in my life. Will share sometimes. Thanks for giving me the opportunity.

Q. There is a shortage of eminent professors at b-schools. With more and more institutes offering the MBA course, do you think MBA will become just another degree?

A. I AGREE WITH YOUR VIEWS YES MBA will just be worth the value of the paper on which the degree or diploma is printed!!

Q. Do you think the course curriculum is at par with industry expectations?

A. NO! NOT AT ALL!

Q. If you hadn't been a professor, what would you be? What are your professional/career goals?

A. "MOTIVATOR/MENTOR/FRIEND PHILOSOPHER AND GUIDE TO STUDENTS.

MY GOAL IS STILL TO REMAIN IN SEARCH OF EXCELLENCE. I BELIEVE THAT EXCELLENCE HAS NO LIMITS! LOVE WHAT YOU DO ND DO WHAT YOU LOVE!! KEEP THE CHILD IN YOU ALIVE! These are my COMMANDMENTS of my life! GOAL IS TO EXCEL in whatever field one is in. So God Help me!!"
