Interview with Ameya Dhuri, Student of Veermata Jijabai Technological Institute

Name : ~ Ameya Dhuri

Course Name : ~ 4th Year in Bachelor of Technology in Information Technology

Q. Name of your institute

A. Veermata Jijabai Technological Institute

Q. Course Name

A. Bachelor of Technology in Information Technology

Q. Which Year in the course?

A. Final (4th)

Q. Tell us something about yourself

A. I am Ameya Mahadev Dhuri, student of information technology department VJTI. If I have to write designation in front of my name, I will be writing Indian & Entrepreneur & Programmer;

Mathematics is one of my big strengths from school, which gives me logical and analytical abilities and makes me a good programmer. I love doing competitive programming and have participated in few contests and got decent rank.

I am fast learner. May be I am not aware of many industrial technologies used but if given a chance to learn some technology then in a span of 7-20 days, I can get strong command on it.

More than a programmer, I am an entrepreneur and running a Service based startup for last 4 years. In these 4 years, I have learnt many things required in the business community and also I have developed myself as a leader and a person.

These qualities will help me to achieve my dream of either working in Indian IT Company of size less than 100 or to grow my own startup. Because I think my contribution will have a considerable value in these companies to grow than in any MNC where I will be just another employee.

Q. Tell us about your college

A. VJTI. I don't think this college needs introduction. Its third oldest college in India and so some of the parts of college are considered as heritage. Faculty is not the best as you expect from an Institute where all state topper are studying. The best thing about VJTI is senior-junior relationships which get developed during festivals.

There are 3 main festivals, Pratibimb which is cultural, Technovanza which is techno-management and Enthusia which is sports and 6 societies, Entrepreneurship Cell, Society of Robotics and Automation, SAE, DLA and few more. As you can see there are so many working committees, there are so many students working for these and hence students here are not only having good technical skills but also good management skills. Canteen is also very good.

The dishes one should try after coming into VJTI are Samosa Chat,Veg Biryani,Veg Burger and Idli Chilly. Hangout places here are 5 gardens (if its group...don't go there as a couple otherwise people will raise their eyebrows :D ), Ruia Katta which is 15 mins away and then there is Classic Restaurant, Garnish, Madras Cafe, Maheshwari Udyan group of frankies (because there are so many good franky stalls like Preetam,Family Park, I LOVE FOOD etc), and then there is Naturals, Just Chill, Ribbons and Balloons, Gelato, Oasis and what not. If you walk little ahead, there is Ramashraya (according to me the best place in Mumbai to eat south Indian food).

I think this food topic distracted me from college. To conclude a college which turns a 17-18 year old kiddish boy into a gentleman (and similar with girls: D) is VJTI.

Q. What inspired you to choose this course over all other courses?

A. I have good logical and analytical skills with high interest in computers so I decided to choose this course of becoming a Programmer and a IT expert.

Q. As a student, what changes would you like to bring in Management education system?

A. There is certainly a howrah bridge between current technologies and technologies taught in curriculum so something should be done to improve the syllabus. And also I am observing this for a while now. In terms of scores and marks and CGPAs, 5% of the any class are toppers, 15% of the class are lower rankers and remaining 80% are lying in between. But only 10% of the class is good with the understanding of the subjects and course and can actually implement what he is learning. And out of these 10%, 7% are lower rankers, 2% are toppers, 1% middle people. Why is it so? It shows that there is some problem is examination system that lower rankers can’t score even after having good knowledge and some people are scoring high without having any knowledge (but having good 'ratta maar' skills).

Q. Who in your life has influenced you the most? Why?

A. Sachin Tendulkar. He has worked very hard in his childhood to reach where he is right now and then after reaching there, he did not stop working hard. He maintained his position for 24 years. And along with that his humble and polite nature, His down to earth attitude makes him my role model.

Along with him the people I really admire and gives me inspiration are : Chatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, Lokmanya Tilak, Veer Damodar Savarkar, Netaji Subhashchandra Bose, Mahatma Gandhi(only for his calm nature), Bhagat Singh, Sukhdev, Rajguru, Chandrashekhar Azad, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, Lalbahadur Shastri, Atal Bihari Vajpayee, APJ Abdul Kalam and Narendra Modi.

Q. What would you advice someone planning to pursue your course?

A. Just focus on what you are doing. Keep doing something which you like the most related to your field of interest. Don't just learn for a degree. You should be in a position after your graduation where if someone snatches/removes your degree from your name then also you can do wonders in your life.

Just like Rancho had done without having degree. It is not filmy or hypothetical. It is possible. I feel that I have gained enough knowledge that I can still do something in my life even if you remove my degree.

Q. 3 Questions you would like to ask a successful businessman / entrepreneur?

A. I don't think I have any question for them.

Q. What are your future plans?

A. I want to serve for my country and it is not limited to Army or Civil Services. I want to use my education and creative brain to develop my country by solving current problems India is facing. And its not vague idea. I have my plans of implementing certain projects in India which can solve many problems we are facing currently like cleanliness, corruptio, unemployment, GDP of Manufacturing, traffic etc. May be my voice will go unheard right now so currently I am working to reach that level where my voice will have some value and it wont go unheard by people whose approval is very much required to make ideas happen in reality.

I am working on my startup AllIzzWell Group of Companies, partnered with my friend Mohit Garge and we share this vision of making India proud one day. Also I am placed in a startup, iKen Solutions which I am going to join in this summer after my graduation.

Q. Your Feedback for ManagementParadise.com

A. Don't know much about it. Sorry.
