What makes SIMSR different from other B-schools?

SIMSR is different from other B-Schools because in addition to PGDM-Marketing, Finance, Operations and HR programs like the other Business Schools, SIMSR has two specialized programs also that is, PGDM-International Business and PGDM-Retail Management.

PGDM-IB program aims at developing versatile managers with a Global Mindset who not only have competence in all aspects of International Strategy, Marketing, Finance, Logistics, HR but also have an indepth understanding of the world affairs and the changing Business Environment.

SIMSR has transparent selection process. It takes into account criteria and various competencies required to be a good Manager and balances the subjective and objective criterions for selection.

SIMSR mainly focuses on Academics and develops a Global mindset.

The return on Investment of Time and money by studying at SIMSR is very high.

What is the SIMSR cut off score for CAT? What can an applicant expect from this years Admission test?

The cutoff for PGDM IS 90.29 percentile and the cutoff for PGDM-IB went to 82 percentile that is the CAT score.

The institute places a lot of importance on qualities of leadership, teamwork, academic record and communication skills for selection.

Why is the GD/PI given lesser amount of importance as compared to the written test? What are the qualities one looks at while marking applicants during the GD/PI?

The institute gives great importance to GD-PI, Written Communication Test, Past Academic Record and Work Experience.

During the GD-PI students are tested for their analytical ability, communication skills, leadership, teamwork and conceptualization.

Can you share some information regarding the batch profile of students in terms of gender, previous education background and work experience? Does SIMSR prefer any profiles of educational background and work experience to others?

The Batch which is coming to second year has 30-35 % Girl Students, and more than 80% are Engineers and 70% of all are work experienced.

SIMSR tries to get the students from Diverse Backgrounds and regions. However, it has no quota of any kind and students are selected on “EQUAL OPPORTUNITIES” to all.

Coming to placements, what is the placement process followed at SIMSR? What are the kinds of jobs, students at SIMSR have been taking up in the past three years?

A Placement Committee consisting of students is guided by the Chief Placement Manager. Students invite diverse companies for the process and they decides the companies to be invited on priority. Students have been absorbed by the companies with diverse job profiles including IT, Consultancy, Sales Management, Financial Services and HR.

SIMSR infrastructure needs a lot of work and restructuring. What is your take on it? What are doing to compete with other Indian B-schools?


SIMSR has one of the best infrastructure – Spread over a green campus of 55 Acres with two buildings of 150,000 square feet, a state of the art in campus, Hostel for Boys and girls, enviable sports and cultural facilities like tennis court, squash court, volley ball court and an open air amphitheatre.

Could you explain the quota system, which is the part of the CET admission procedure? Are students looked at differently depending on the state to which they belong? Do you feel a difference in quality of students because of this system?

Institute has no quota system for PGDM, PGDM-IB, PGDM-RM programs however it has to follow certain Government guidelines regarding admission to MMS and MCA programs.

The institute is an equal opportunity and has students from students from almost all states of India. The regional spread is also very balanced in terms of North-East, South-West, Central Areas because of the transparent selection process because of the transparent selection process.

We give equal stress on subjective and objective criteria, which gets the best students from across the country

Does SIMSR plan to introduce the PGDBM course along with the MMS? Also are there any plans to introduce part time courses at SIMSR

SIMSR already has PGDM, PGDM-IB, PGDM-RM along with MMS.

We also has PART TIME course in university of Mumbai.
