History about Lignite
It is a long history with lots of efforts behind the birth of baby of Coal family, the fossil fuel, "LIGNITE" arrival in the coal starved Southern region of India. The following is the gist of events that took place in the legend of Tamil Nadu before the formation of Neyveli Lignite Corporation as a Corporate body.

Chronology of events
Occurrence of "PEAT" a low calorific fuel of coal family near point calimere is reported to the then Madras Government, by the sub-collector of Thanjavur Mr.Nelson General Cullen discovers lignite deposits at the base of the cliffs on theSea-shore near Cannanore - Later near varkala near Quilon and also at Vaikom in Kerala Captain New bold discovers Lignite at the foot of the cliffs of laterite on the river banks near Beypore. Mr. W. King of the Geological survey of India takes up a study of artesian wells around 1877 Pondicherry. He comes across a carbonaceous strata. Mr.Poilay a French Engineer encounters a Lignite seam in a bore hole at Bahoor, the then French territory. Further exploration along the belt indicates possible Lignite deposits at 1884 Udharamanickam, Aranganur and Kanniarkoil, near Cuddalore. Lignite deposits are indicated at Kasargod and the Collector of South Kanara reports kit to the board of Revenue Industries Department of the then Government of Madras drills bore holes for tapping artesian 1934 water in the neighbour hood of Neyveli. Lignite particles encountred are taken as "black - clay" by unlettered workmen engaged in drilling. Borewells sunk in Jambulinga Mudaliyar's land in Neyveli and theBlack particles gushing forth 1935 attract the attention of camping Geologists engaged in some other mission in the Neyveli Vriddhachalam area. Samples of the black substance taken from the 1937-38 above form well sent to the Government of Madras for analysis. M/s. Binny & Co., Madras put down four or five bore holes at Aziz Nagar, near Neyveli. Two of 1941 them show evidence of Lignite deposits; but for want of casing pipes and drilling equipment, further work is given up.

The Geological Survey of India starts drilling operations near Neyveli. Preliminary 1943-46 investigations indicate the existence of Lignite to the extent of about 500 tonnes in that area. Mr.H.K.Ghose, Geologist and Mining Engineer 1947 deputed by the Government of India arrives in Neyveli and starts his operations The first bore holes sunk by Mr. Ghose have to be abandoned because of water logging and sand 1948 - beds. The third one "September 1951" yields samples of Lignite Mr. Ghose draws experimental open cut plan and 1949 calls for tenders to start excavation. Sinking 175 borewells in a cluster punctuating the chosen area, Mr. Ghose proves the existence of about 2000 Million tonnes of Lignite reserves in the area. State Government's Industries and Commerce Department also sinks over 150 borewells South of Vriddhachalam Mr. Paul Eyrich, a Mining Engineer is deputed by the 1951 Bureau of Mines, United States of America, to assist the Government of Madras under point four programme to determine the Engineering and Economic aspects of Lignite Mining in Neyveli. Upon his recommendation, the US Government sponsors a study on the subject under the direction of Mr. V.F.Parry. The High Power Committee for Lignite Mining 1952 recommends the Pilot Quarry project.

History about Coal
K.S.School of Business Management
20
Overview:
Coal is our most abundant fossil fuel resource. Coal is a complex mixture of organic chemical substances containing carbon, hydrogen and oxygen in chemical combination, together with smaller amounts of nitrogen and sulfur. This organic part of coal has associated with it various amounts of moisture and minerals. Coalification is the name given to the development of the series of substances known as peat, lignite or brown coal, sub-bituminous coal, bituminous coal, and anthracite. The degree of coalification, also called the rank of the coal, increases progressively from lignite to low rank coal, to high rank coal, to anthracite. The carbon content increases, while the oxygen and hydrogen contents decrease throughout the series. The hardness increases, while the reactivity decreases. Different amounts of heat and pressure during the geochemical stage of coal development cause these differences in rank. It is not due to the kind of plants the coal is formed from. Coals in the US range from lignite with approximate as-mined carbon content of 30%, volatile matter 27%, and heating value of 7,000 Btu per pound, to
K.S.School of Business Management
21
anthracite with an average of 85% carbon, 5% volatile matter, and heating value of 12,750 Btu per pound. Sub-bituminous and bituminous coals are intermediate between these values
Coal Mining Overview:
There are two primary methods of mining coal, surface mining and underground mining. There are over 1,000 surface mines and more than 1,000 underground mines in the US. Underground mining is more difficult and requires more miners, but much of our best coal is underground. Mining has become much safer and more efficient over the years. In 1980 there were over 220,000 coal miners in the country. Today there are fewer than 100,000. But while 1980 production was about 800,000 tons, today we produce over 1 billion tons with fewer than half the number of miners. In recent years surface mining in Wyoming has mushroomed, making that state the leading coal producer at almost 300,000 tons per year. West Virginia and Kentucky, the traditional leaders, with
K.S.School of Business Management
22
both underground and surface mines, each produce around 170,000 tons.
Types of Firewood DRYING FIREWOOD
K.S.School of Business Management
23
Wood for burning in a wood stove must be "dry" to burn with maximum efficiency. "Dry" means the wood must be aged, so it is not "green," and also not "wet" from rainwater. When a tree is cut down, the wood is "green," or saturated with water through the normal capillary action needed to keep the tree alive. Depending upon the exact tree specie, it can take well over six months of normal storage for the wood to "season" and no longer be "green." If you harvest your firewood in late summer or early fall, you can cheat and speed up the seasoning process. I am assuming you use a stick for measuring* where to cut, so all of the pieces are the same length and therefore will stack reasonably well in a single row
STORING FIREWOOD
Firewood should be stacked off the ground so air can pass beneath it, or the bottom layers will stay wet and moldy. It is relatively simple to lay down long, straight branches, and stack the
K.S.School of Business Management
24
wood on them -- just be sure the branches (or old 2 x 4's, whatever is available) are parallel to the stack and near the outer sides of each row or rick...in other words, about 15 inches apart. That way the stacks will still be stable So this type of coal , lignite and firewood can be used for transportation of different types of vehicles such as trucks.
Overview of Indian Textile Industry
K.S.School of Business Management
25
The Indian textile industry is one of the oldest industries in the country and occupies an important position in its economy. Its predominant presence in the Indian economy is manifested in terms of its significant contribution to the industrial production, employment generation, and foreign exchange earnings. Currently, it adds about 14 percent to the industrial production and about 4 percent to the GDP. It has immense potential for employment generation, particularly in the rural and remote areas of the country on account of its close linkage with agriculture. It provides employment to about 35 million persons. In fact, the textile industry is the second largest provider of employment after agriculture. The contribution of this industry to the gross export earnings of the country is over 30% while it adds only 7 to 8 percent to the gross import bill of the country. It is the only industry which is self self-reliant and complete in value chain, i.e. from raw material to the highest value added products, viz. garments / K.S.School of Business Management

made made-ups. As a consequence, the growth and development of this industry has a significant bearing on the overall development of the Indian economy.
The Indian textile industry has a very flexible production structure, covering a wide spectrum, from the organized sector to the decentralized sector to the artisans, with technology levels ranging from hand operated to the automated, micro processor - based sophisticated instruments, facilitating production of a diverse range of textile items. In addition, India can boast of a vast skilled workforce, a pool of managerial talent and entrepreneurial skills. This industry uses a wide range of fibres from natural fibres like cotton, jute, silk and wool to synthetic / man made fibres like polyester, viscose, nylon, acrylic and the multiple blends' blends'-of such fibres and filament yarns. The complex and varied structure of the industry coupled with its close K.S.School of Business Management
27
linkage with our ancient culture and tradition provides it with the unique capacity to, produce, with the help of latest technological inputs and design capability, a wide variety of products suitable to the varying consumer tastes and preferences, both within the country and overseas.

Umeed’s Initiative for Disables Introduction to Umeed – initiatives for disables
Umeed –Initiatives for Disables, started in January 2008, supported by Government of Gujarat, Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation, Saath and Wadhwani foundation. The project aims to initiate linkages of the Person with Disabilities (PWD) under UMEED programme.
K.S.School of Business Management
39
The goal of the project is to empower PWDs so that, they can contribute to the society. This gives chance to physical disables to identify and utilize their skills for employment. The objective of providing training is to empower, persons with disabilities (PWD) by providing them equal opportunities with non-disables and to make themselves compete with outer environment. The process of this project includes identification, counseling and support during training and placement of PWDs.
What is disability?
The most commonly cited definition is that of the World Health Organization in 1976, which draws a three–fold distinction between impairment, disability and handicap. ‘An impairment is any
K.S.School of Business Management
40
loss or abnormality of psychological, physiological or anatomical structure or function, a disability is any restriction or lack (resulting from an impairment) of ability to perform an activity in the manner or within the range considered normal for a human being, a handicap is a disadvantage for a given individual, resulting from an impairment or a disability, that prevents the fulfillment of a role that is considered normal (depending on age, sex and social and cultural factors) for that individual’. According to activists in the disability movement, the World Health Organization has confused between the terms ‘Disability’ and ‘Impairment’. They maintain that impairment refers to physical
K.S.School of Business Management
41
or cognitive limitations that an individual may have, such as the inability to walk or speak. In contrast, disability refers to socially imposed restrictions, that is, the system of social constraints that are imposed on those with i mpairments by the discriminatory practices of society.
Types of person with disability involved in the program
1. 2. 3. 4.
Loco motor Blind Low vision Deaf-mute

5.
Leprosy cured
What is the difference between disable and non-disable?
There is apparent difference between person with disability and non-disables, but when we think for the skills and performance, there is no difference between them. Many tasks can PWDs perform equally. E.g. The task to work on the computer
To work on the computer non-disable will not require anything other than PC, while, for the
K.S.School of Business Management
43
same task PWD person will not require anything other than PC, if PWD is blind or low vision
requires computer software support jaws, here the disability doesn’t exist. As both non-disable and PWD are performing the same task with same capacity and efficiency. The task and disability may change with the type of the disability. Only the fewer areas where ‘disability’ becomes a question, while most of the areas have the solution as technical support system are well developed. The striking line is in our minds, which stops us to give a chance to PWDs.
K.S.School of Business Management
44
Conclusion
Most of the times the performance can be evaluated on the basis of the time limit. The transportation business can also be used in the Textile and Cement Industries. There are so many types of Firewood such as Drying, cutting, splitting, storing and last but not the least stacking Firewood which can be used in the transportation business. Umeed is the project jointly held by Saath and AMC. Our Chief Minister Mr. Narendra Modi Has included this Project of Umeed in Nirmal Gujarat.

Peat bogs found in Nilgris (Peat is considered to be the first stage in the formation of Coal from vegetable matter accumulating in swamps)

Mr.

22
both underground and surface mines, each produce around 170,000 tons.

41
or cognitive limitations that an individual may have, such as the inability to walk or speak. In contrast, disability refers to socially imposed restrictions, that is, the system of social constraints that are imposed on those with i mpairments by the discriminatory practices of society.
