Universal Quality School Education
Challenge of the 21st Century

Backdrop

With the policy initiative to move towards universal quality secondary education, Government of India has committed itself to provide quality education to all children from grade 1 to 12. This dynamic initiative needs to be backed up with academic debates on the parameters of quality, and strategies of planning and management of quality in school education.

UQSE 2007 has been designed to create a forum for such constructive debate. The Conference will focus on following areas

 Education for Sustainable Development
 Education for Beliefs and Values Development
 Classroom Processes and New Learning Designs
 ICT and Technology Integration in Education
 Leadership for 21st-century Schools
 Economics of quality school education

Call for Papers

Papers are invited for presentation on any one of the areas of focus of the UQSE 2007 mentioned above. Case studies, research reports, critical reviews will be preferred. The length of the paper should not be more than 4000 words complete with figures, illustrations, tables, and references. The papers should be submitted in e-format. There should be a brief introduction, in about 50 words, about the author(s) at the end of the paper with full contact address(es).

Initially, participants should send a brief proposal (abstract) of their presentation in not more than 400 words, latest by 15 August, 2007. The decision of the academic review committee will be intimated by 15 September, 2007. Full paper should be sent only on acceptance of the proposal latest by 10 October, 2007. Abstracts and paper should be sent by e-mail to [email protected]

Each presenter will get 20 minutes to present. Presentation should be done with PPT slides or OHP transparencies or well designed charts. Paper-reading will be discouraged.

The Seminar would discuss and review economic opportunities coming out of Information & Communications Technology (ICT) and the role of NGOs in developing IT/ICT entrepreneurship. The seminar would deliberate upon outsourcing potential for cyber entrepreneurs in rural areas and would also touch upon possibilities and trends like feasibility of Business Process Outsourcing (BPOs) in rural areas. How cyber entrepreneurs could take advantage of outsourcing market for further job creation would be the major issue that would be deliberated.
