Insight 2010 - IIMA (DAY 1)
IIM-A is filled with talks about marketing research with seminars, workshops and debates on various aspects of the often neglected subject. Insight 2010, IIMA’s annual marketing research fair, had a new feel this year. It had creative events which received overwhelming response from participants all across the country. The famous Marketing Fair will happen on Sunday 12:00 pm onwards.
Day 1 started with a seminar by Mr. S. Sridhar, the chairman and Managing Director of Central Bank of India. Prof. Jayant Verma and Prof. Arindam Banerjee of IIM-A accompanied Mr. Sridhar. Mr. Sridhar elucidated the requirement and role of market research in PSU banks. The seminar covered topics ranging from practices and methodologies in market research to treating marketing research as a career and not as a process. The seminar was attended by more than 180 students from institutes like XLRI, FMS, IIT-D, MICA, IIM-Shillong, IBS, colleges from Gujarat, Maharashtra and Delhi Universities.
The seminar was followed by a workshop organized by the Nielson Company. The event kicked-off with a contemporary overview on the marketing research industry globally as well as in India with special focus on how various businesses can benefit from marketing research. The workshop continued for 2 hours, illustrating various tools and best practices followed in the industry for Marketing Research. According to the top management of Neilson (including Chairman, VP of Operations, VP of HR among others), the student response was overwhelming. After the workshop, participants were divided into groups and were given a real-life marketing research case.
‘Bone of Contention', an all India invitational marketing debate competition saw many participating teams, some of them from IIM-C, IIFT and XLRI. This is the first marketing debate competition held in India. The finals of the debate competition will happen tomorrow with people from Central Bank and Reckitt Benckiser judging the qualifying teams.
A Campus Walk was organised which was attended by a lot of local people. Volunteers (IIM-A students) took people around the campus from Harvard Steps to LKP to New Campus and also had a classroom session of 20 minutes. The intention of the Campus Walk was to maintain the link between the Institute and city and to work towards the noble cause of helping PRAYAAS.
A painting exhibition was also organized by Finesse, the Fine Arts Club of IIMA. The exhibition was a part of the Joy of Giving week. More than 60 paintings made by IIM faculties, their family members and the students were on display.
