At 50, the iconic IIM Ahmedabad is in the throes of change: this is evident in its thinking about its identity, strengths, goals and its pedagogy. Director Samir K. Barua wants its curriculum to reflect contemporary realities.
IIM is in need of 30 more staff and is allowing faculty to research .. In a bid to make its curriculum assimilative, it has launched a course on Contemporary Film Industry. Not just that, IIM-A’s Centre for Innovation, Incubation and Entrepreneurship now offers its alumni opportunities as angel investors in fledgling ventures nurtured there and also mentors them. Its agenda for future includes establishing campuses in other countries close to India. IIM-A intends to further consolidate its presence in management leadership. “We lead in the management education space and have provided top talent to companies, hence our vision is to provide ‘thought leadership’ as well,” says Barua.
