IIMA and Korean Cultural Centre come together to bring Korean sensation Band N-SONIC to CHAOS 2015

Chaos 2015, the annual cultural festival of IIM Ahmedabad, in association with Korean Cultural Centre (KCC) is all set to bring the Korean pop wave to Western India. Chaos has associated with KCC to enrapture its audiences with the Korean sensation band, N-Sonic. After a humble beginning in 1996, Chaos has evolved to become the country's biggest business school cultural festival. This year, it is all set to happen on 23rd-26th January, 2015. Boasting of a participation of more than 12000 students and a footfall of over 70000, the festival is extremely popular and attracts students from across the country. It is known to bring various performing artists from all over the world for its most popular event, Pro-nites.

The Korean music wave has swept across many countries with its energy and it is especially very popular in parts of Latin America, India, North Africa, the Middle East, Eastern Europe and immigrant enclaves of the Western world. Originating in the early 1990s in South Korea, Korean Pop, or K-POP as popularly known, is described as a modern form of South Korean pop music covering dance-pop, pop ballad, electronic, rock, hip-hop, R&B, etc. It is characterized by a wide variety of audiovisual elements. The integration of foreign musical elements is a common practice in the K-POP industry. With Psy's 'Gangnam Style' going viral in 2012, Korean pop music gained international recognition. This wave was taken forward by the K-POP festival which saw its third edition in 2014. In India, its auditions were held nationwide and the finale was conducted in the capital with extravagance.

N-Sonic, a popular South Korean all boys band is an excellent expression of K-POP culture. Having made its debut in 2011 with the digital album 'We are Super Boys', N-Sonic has now developed a strong fan base in South Asia and Japan. It has received accolades and has been honoured as the Ambassador for prestigious events like the 16th Boryeong "Mud Festival" and the Child Protection Project "Rainbow Project". The band comprising of six boys, J. Heart, Sihoo, Byeol, Minkee, Black J and Zion, is led by J Heart who is also the lead vocalist.
N-Sonic gave its first ever live performance in India in June 2014 during the 3rd edition of K-POP. It has also judged the auditions of the third edition of K-POP.
It has been possible to bring N-Sonic to Chaos thanks to the efforts of the Korean Cultural Centre. Operated by the Korean government's Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and situated in New Delhi, KCC is dedicated to providing insights into the rich cultural heritage of Korea. It serves as a platform for artists and intellectuals from both countries to come together and showcase their talent. IIM Ahmedabad is delighted to be associated with the Korean Cultural Centre in their annual cultural festival, Chaos.
