PGPX Admission Notification - Class of 2015
After the successful take-off of the IIMU – Purdue Dual Degree Program, one of the youngest IIMs, IIM Udaipur announces the launch of its second batch of the PGPX Program, starting this January. Realizing the growing industry needs for skilled Supply Chain professionals, IIM Udaipur in collaboration with Purdue University, USA had begun this unique 15-month dual degree program in Global Supply Chain
Management back in January’2013. Students of this program will be conferred a dual degree - Post Graduate degree in Supply Chain Management (PGPX) by Indian Institute of Management, Udaipur and an MS degree in Global Supply Chain Management by Krannert School of Management, Purdue University, USA. IIMU is the only institute in India to offer a globally specialized program in Supply Chain
Management along with Purdue’s Krannert School of Management, which ranks among the top 3 institutes of the world in the Operations domain. This unique aspect of the course curriculum is that it provides students with an opportunity to study in a truly global environment .The entire course is under the guidance of Prof Janat Shah, Director of IIM Udaipur and a vastly experienced professional in the Operations/Supply Chain domain.
A minimum valid GMAT score of 600, a valid TOEFL/IELTS/PTE score, minimum work experience of 30 months and a minimum of 16 years of formal education are a pre-requisite for applying to this course. But the challenge lies in the fact that each selected student has to obtain final admits from both IIMU and Purdue in order to join this program.
The best part of this program has been the industry response and acceptance. Many industry stalwarts have reiterated in their guest lectures that the course structure is well-thought out and that the global nature of this program will equip the students with the right skill-set to work in supply-chains, which nowadays are inherently global. This buoyant mood was reflected in the summer hiring for internships wherein, the leading firms in the e-commerce, manufacturing, retail, FMCG and pharma sectors queued up for the 16 pioneers.
As the present students are busy in the last stages of their summer internship and in packing bags for their Purdue stint from August, it has truly been a transformational journey for them. All the 16 executives, who come from a diverse range of professional backgrounds with experience ranging from 2.5 to 8 years, represent a gamut of sectors, namely IT, Retail, Energy, Telecom, Manufacturing, Consulting and Fashion Technology. Rahul Pandey, a student of the first batch and a former store manager in UK for one of the largest retail giants, aptly says that “In India, there is whole lot of growth opportunity in the retail buying area as the retail sector is just opening up. This led to my decision to come back to India and do an MBA, specializing in supply-chain, from an IIM.”
All in all, IIMU, though in its nascent stage, had taken the first plunge; the first-mover advantage is clearly with IIMU.
