IIM Shillong cruises into National level finals of Deloitte’s Maverick Challenge
IIM Shillong, one of the premier management institutes of the country, qualified for the national finals of ‘The Maverick’, a business acumen challenge organized by Deloitte. The challenge was thrown open, for the first time, to the top 30 B-schools of the country and saw huge participation with around two thousand entries.
Three teams from IIM Shillong made it to the East Zone regional finals with one among them going ahead to compete in the nationals. The challenge saw teams battling it out in a case-study competition, which required formulation of comprehensive marketing strategies. The contest culminated in a two-minute presentation before a panel comprising of the top echelon of Deloitte’s management. The teams were subjected to rigorous questioning to gauge their spontaneity and understanding of the case study.
Among the top 10 teams that qualified for the East zone Regional finals, “The Three Musketeers” team from IIM Shillong comprising of Ankit Kumar Hetamsaria, Aritra Nayak and Ajay Ravikumar, surged ahead into the Nationals, beating other teams from XLRI and XIMB. IIM Shillong already in its 5th year of existence has managed to prove itself time and again and has also represented India twice in GIRC at the Asia-Pacific level.
The Maverick finalists got an opportunity to interact with the Partners and Directors of Deloitte over dinner held at Taj Bengal, Kolkata. The finals, scheduled for 30-31st August, 2012, are to be held at Hyderabad and will witness competition among the teams from IIM Calcutta, IIM Lucknow, IIM Shillong, SPJIMR, ISB, FMS, TAPMI and Goa Institute of Management (GIM).
