“All of life’s riddles are answered in the movies!”[/i] – Steve Martin.
Business Standard Treatise, the International Thought Challenge at IIM Lucknow’s Manfest 2012, stems entirely from the movies! Treatise this year is simple – it is about taking conflicts and arguments out of movies, linking them to specific facets of contemporary life and business, and generating food for thought: winning arguments, compelling influences and new perspectives.
Our cinema, a reflection of our society, is rich in diverse and stimulating conflicts. From the classic to the contemporary, from 70mm legends to obscure pearls from alternative cinema, Treatise explores them all! The preliminary round presents a brace of powerful scenes from world cinema, which have at least two distinct, divergent points of view. You are to build and submit an argument on one of these perspectives. Open-ended questions, posed at the end of the scenes, help you with some direction.
