Echoes 2012
Music:
As the big day approaches, it's time for all you music aficionados to gear up and feel the sound overwhelm you. Get ready to lose your voices, and witness something you'll never see again – a musical extravaganza of apocalyptic proportions, only at Echoes 2012.
Hill-Top Jam: A few hundred feet above sea-level, and it's time to take the Stairway to Heaven, where college bands battle it out to be crowned the best in the circuit.
Sound of Music: The hills are alive, with the Sound of Music. This time though, you'll be doing the crooning. Are you good enough to make Mother Nature herself stop and listen?
Altar of Rock: The biggest bands in the country travel from far and wide, and their pilgrimage ends at the Altar of Rock. Witness them go head to head in a pulsating battle of guitar riffs, time signatures and soaring vocals, where the audience is the ultimate winner!
Literary:
In the beginning, we were animals (yes, some of us still are). Then we learned how to talk. And as we reach the last few days of the planet, we realize that man has never been the same since. So much to say and do, so little time – truly a race against the end of the world!
The Argumentative Indian: Take a stand, make your point, rebut, walk away with mega prizes. The mega debate at Echoes 2012 sounds simple, until you see the best minds at work.
Mo(s)tley Lit: Potpourri, a collection of all sorts of things. Dumb Charades, Word Games, Pictionary – throw in a few you've never seen before, and get ready for a brainfunk of epic proportions.
Gab-berish: There's the gift of gab, and there's gibberish. Here at Echoes 2012, the JAM calls for both. There's one simple rule. Keep talking. We'll think up the rest as we go along.
A Night on the Tiles: Seven tiles, one Scrabble board. Get your grey cells working, because this is your chance to have the last word (ZYZZVA, literally speaking).
Variety and Workshops:
Variety, they say, is the spice of life. When all life reaches its crescendo, our advice is to stay back, because things are going to heat up. Here at the variety events at Echoes 2012, we're going to take you off the beaten track, and give you an experience you haven't had before.
Last year, you've ruthlessly slaughtered your opposition at Paintball; get ready for even more to come this year. And if exploring new horizons and learning beyond the syllabus seems like your cup of tea, there's going to be much more to look forward to this time, with an eclectic range of workshops from shadow play to mocktail making. Get busy, get breathless, the Big Bang will leave you gasping.
Theatre:
We wear a mask, all of us. The exhilaration of venturing into horizons unknown, the agony of a narrow defeat, the satisfaction of a job well done – they're all different facets of the same persona. Well now that the world is about to end, we at Echoes 2012 invite you to capture all these and more. So take the centre stage and show what you've got- one last time.
Curtain Call: The biggest theatre competition returns to the Kozhikode stage at Echoes. Whether you're a playwright with a story to tell, an actor of myriad expressions, or just a theatre enthusiast who wants to see the best that the cultural circuit can provide, Curtain Call is your opportunity to experience theatre like never before.
Fine Arts:
There are people who see the world as it is, and there are those who see so much more. Put colour where there's none, make the ordinary a little extraordinary, and change the way we perceive the world. Make the planet remember what man is capable of. Make art so extraordinary, it puts Creation to shame. Paint, carve, express. The day of reckoning is here, and the canvas is yours.
Wall's Treat: We know there's a little too much of it on the news lately, and here we are on the bandwagon as well. Here, wall painting is your means of expression, and the writing on the wall is your ticket to fame.
Face Off: Face painting is not as easy as it sounds, and it's definitely a lot more fun. Get that paintbrush, let your imagination guide you, and transform a person into a work of art. Facial expression just acquired a whole new meaning.
Dance:
When your foot starts tapping to every song you hear, and you break hearts as you break into those moves, you know that this is where you belong
ToeSteppers
The stage is all set and it is all yours. Mesmerize the crowd with your moves and take control in the solo dance competition at Echoes2012. It's going to be you in the spotlight – this is the night, this is your time to make the world explode.
ConcorDance
Pump the heartbeat with groundbreaking steps and breathtaking coordination. Let the spirits of dance take control keeping the rhythm of life alive in the Group Dance competition at Echoes 2012.
Ramp-age (The Fashion Show):
What the caterpillar calls the end of the world, the master calls the butterfly.
This January, prepare to go on a Ramp-age, to shine and strut your metamorphosis as life as we know it draws to an end. So, let there be the biggest explosion of fashion, glamour, elegance and oomph, set the ramp on fire and etch that last(ing) impression.
Informals:
