IIM-K Echoes gets Coverage in Deccan Chronicle for going big



The remarkable success of Echoes 2011 has encouraged the organisers of Echoes 2012 of IIM Kozhikode to sweat it out for seven months to repeat it this year too.

It was only last year that the event was separated from Backwaters, a management fest and given a purely cultural tag attracting non-management students to the beautiful campus.

“This year, the Echoes 2012, perhaps the only fest with two pronites will feature Neeraj Shridar in Bollywood Nite and Thermal And A Quarter in Rock Nite,” says Prachi Chouhan, organising member of Echoes 2012.

Pandit Ajay Pohankar, who sings khayal, thumri, classical and devotional songs will perform on January 13.The event unfolds with the The Big Bang party. Over Rs 7 lakh worth of prizes are at stake in the three day fest from January 13 to 15.Music events include Altar of Rock, where six semi-pro rock band from across India will compete and Hilltop Jam — which is open for college team bands.

Entrants can also croon their way in Sound of Music. Ramp-age is aimed to set the catwalk on fire. The group dance contest, ConcorDance and solo dance contest Toesteppers are there to award the best dancers.

The debate contest, The Argumentative Indian, dumb charades, word games and Pictionary will bring out the best brains. The event Gab-berish will have one simple rule — to keep talking. A night on the tiles is ascrabble board test.

Events off the beaten track will be in focus at Variety while a range of workshops from shadow play to mocktail making will keep participants and audience busy.Those skilled in theatre forms as creative writing and acting can participate in Curtain Call. Wall’s treat is for the expressive artists to dabble on the walls while Face off will be a test of skills in face painting.
