IIM Indore concluded its three day annual management summit Ahvan’12 on Sunday. Ahvan, carrying forward its legacy saw increased participation, new events and innovative rounds in its flagship events. The event kicked off on Friday after inauguration by the institute director Dr. N Ravichandran followed by a guest talk by Mr. MV Tanksale, Chairman of Central Bank of India.
Mr Tanksale threw light on the changing dynamics in the banking sector of India, making it poised for further growth.
Envision, the speaker series with the theme of ‘a changing India’, saw Kris Ramachandran, former CEO of Philips India, Krish Ashok, Head of Web 2.0 Innovation Labs at TCS, Maya Sharma, NDTV Bureau Chief at Bangalore and Syed Nasir Ali, Joint MD of Air India share their views on diverse subjects pertaining to the country. Kris Ramachandran shared his experiences about brands, Krish Ashok stressed upon the need for cross discipline to spur further innovation, Maya Sharma shared her views on gender inequality in the country and Syed Nasir Ali talked about the challenges faced by PSUs.
Ashwamedha, the flagship event of Ahvan saw Jagannath Kalaimani, a second year MBA student at IIM Indore winning the trophy and a cash prize of Rs.1.5 lakhs. The event tested the participants’ leadership abilities through several gruelling and innovative rounds. Jagannnath shared his vision of making a difference to affordable housing in the country.
Chanakya, the premier business consulting competition of Ahvan saw the team from XLRI, Jamshedpur bag the honours. Kalpavriksha, a social business plan competition saw participation from the world renowned Kellogg School of Management in addition to other top management institutes and several NGOs. The judges stressed upon the need to make a difference in the society by making people empowered and self sustainable over a period of time. Purkal Stree Shakti and Medhavi Foundation were adjudged the winners of Kalpavriksha.
Finance League tested the participants’ ability to understand financial markets and to prepare sound financial plans. The team from IIM Bangalore won the top prize in Finance League. Klueless, an online puzzle game gave enthusiastic participants sleepless nights. Gordian Knot, AdApt and My Campaign provided the students with an opportunity to showcase their marketing talent. Well known quiz master Arul Mani held the quizzing event, Jigyaasa which saw the team from IMT Ghaziabad bagging the first prize.
Apart from these events, Ahvan also saw numerous informal events for participants from local schools and colleges. Open air theatre movies were screened at night for the enjoyment of IIM Indore students and participants from outstation colleges. Ahvan concluded with a cultural performance by the members of Harmon-I, the music society of IIM Indore.
