IIM Indore Ahvan event - Jigyaasa '12

Jigyaasa, which means curiosity in English, is the newest event in Ahvan, the annual management festival of Indian Institute of Management Indore. As the name suggests, Jigyaasa is the premier quizzing conclave of Ahvan'12 which pits the best and most curious minds of the country against each other.

In the earlier editions of Ahvan, all the quizzing activities were held under the event 'I-Rising'. Keeping in mind the need to evolve and change, the members of Quiz Club, IIM Indore decided to rebrand the event to make it more involving and challenging for the participants. With Jigyaasa, the organising team has reworked the entire event including the kind of questions, participating colleges, type of rounds and the quiz master.

In the inaugural edition of Jigyaasa, IIM Indore students bring two quizzes, Aadityavat, the General Quiz and Bizzinesia, the Business Quiz. Though IIM Indore is a business management institute, the students strongly believe that a good business leader not only needs sharp business acumen but should be well aware of happenings in other fields to maximize his/her potential. Consistent with these beliefs, Jigyaasa is organizing the general quiz, Aadityavat which means rising sun. This year, Aadityavat will be conducted by the renowned Quizmaster, Arul Mani. Arul is the Vice-President of Karnataka Quizzing Association and has conducted several prestigious quizzes across the country.

The business quiz, Bizzinesia, will be an online quiz testing the participant’s knowledge and insights in various business functions. Two member teams are allowed to participate in Aadityavat while solo participation will be allowed for the online business quiz. Apart from the joy of answering mind-teasing questions, the participants can win prizes worth more than Rs 50,000. Registrations for the quizzing enclave shall be closed on October 10th. Jigyaasa is open to both engineering and MBA colleges all over India. The idea behind inviting engineering colleges to participate in business school quiz event is that the boundaries of knowledge and domain are continuously blurring.

IIM Indore has had a rich tradition of quizzing culture with students winning several prestigious inter-institute quiz events such as BT Acumen and TATA Crucible. The Quiz Club of IIM Indore is responsible for conducting regular quizzes on campus to stimulate the intellectual potential of the students. A true reflection of the quizzing culture at IIM-Indore lies in its conception of Nihilanth, the annual inter IIT-IIM quiz festival. Started in 2003, this was IIM-Indore’s way of bringing the quizzing talents from all the IITs and the IIMs under one roof, thus creating a one of a kind environment where the best technical and managerial minds of the country come together.

Quizzing has traditionally been an integral part of events across colleges all over the country. IIM Indore students keeping in line with their beliefs to continuously innovate and differentiate from other colleges have made Jigyaasa a more contemporary and intellectually satisfying quizzing conclave.
