IIM Calcutta's 7th International E-Summit Concludes on a High-Note

The 7th International Entrepreneurship Summit was held in IIM Calcutta on 22nd February, 2014. This once-in-a-year event, organized by Entrepreneurship Cell and Centre of Entrepreneurship and Innovation, IIM Calcutta, witnessed the amalgamation of established entrepreneurs, alumni, students and academia from all over the world, to foster the Entrepreneurship spirit. Following the theme of "2014: The year of The Entrepreneur", IES 7 brought together rich line of guest speakers, workshop and quizzes to deliver to insights on trends and strategies in the field of entrepreneurship today.

Speakers from three continents across the world addressed an audience of about 600 from across six countries in the world.The day started with Olympic Gold Medalist, Dana Hee and Keynote speaker, Alber Mensa, educating the audience of the challenges and the focus required in overcoming each of them which are essential when starting up. It was soon followed by NishchalZaveri, AlokBansal and AlokeBajapai, narrating their startup experiences and guiding the audience through the basic essentials required to form the foundation of any startup. Ramesh Sharma (DGP) took up an enlightening topic of corporate governance corruption and compliance in business. PratibhaSastry soon followed up with a brief explanation of Funding requirements and how to rise funding, the achilles' heel of any startup.

IES 7 put together a series of riveting workshops for budding entrepreneurs on the topics of Startup Financing, Legal aspects of Startups, IT Prototyping and Social Media for Startups. These workshops were conducted in association with CStart.in the mini-incubator initiative of the E-Cell, IIM Calcutta. Established names in the industry such as VakilSearch.com, OutsourcedCFO.com, Zeocode and SocialSamosa delivered these workshops.

IES 7 also initiated a unique concept called the Startup Soapbox where students of IIM Calcutta could get expert advice on their startup ideas from the members of the Centre for Entrepreneurship and Innovation who also overlook the functioning of the Incubation Unit. The students were motivated to pursue their ideas further and potentially groom into future incubates for the unit.

Earlier versions of the E-Summit have been graced by dignitaries such as ShriAjithBalakrishnan - CEO of Rediff.com, ShriSharathBabu - founder of FoodKing Catering, SridarIyengar - CEO, TiE and ex-CEO, KPMG in India and ShriSanjeevBhikhchandani - Founder and CEO of Naukri.com.The IES 7 was a perfect confluence of some of the best minds in the field of entrepreneurship from across the world coming together to inspire young entrepreneurs.
