IIM Calcutta to host an inspirational lecture series - Real Icons of Change.



IIM Calcutta to host First Indian amputee to climb Everest for an inspirational lecture series - Real Icons of Change. [/b]

IIM Calcutta has invited iconic luminaries who overcame significant hurdles in life for an inspirational lecture series - Real Icons of Change. The initiative is aimed at reaching out to leaders of tomorrow as well as those who accomplished spectacular achievements through high levels of personal endeavor. Real Icons of Change was conceived and produced by Social Access Communications and is set to come to IIM Calcutta on 27 September 2013. [/b]

This initiative is taken up by IIM Calcutta's Center of Entrepreneurship and Innovation (CEI). CEI is one of the centers of excellence established by Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Calcutta which promotes professional management practices and innovation in Indian organisations. The idea is to help students interact with luminaries in order to inspire leaders and change makers of tomorrow. The speakers for the event are:

1. Lt. Cdr Abhilash Tomy - First Indian, 2nd Asian and 79th in the world to circumnavigate the globe, solo, non-stop, unassisted and under sail.

Naval pilot Lt Cdr Abhilash travelled around the world alone, non - stop and without taking any assistance during his voyage. He started this historic journey on 1st Nov 2012 and returned after 5 months. This journey was true test of competence, bravery, resilience and the will to conquer. It brought prestige to the nation. It was an important chapter to enrich the fine maritime traditions of India.

2. Arunima Sinha - First Indian amputee to climb Mount Everest.

The former national-level volleyball player, who lost a leg after being thrown off a moving train, climbed her way into history books by becoming the first Indian amputee to conquer Mount Everest. She climbed it on 1st April 2013, took 52 days to reach the summit.

3. Max Chandra - He is walking across the length and breadth of India to raise money for charity.

He is walking through every state of India, not simply as an individual challenge and journey, but so as to gain a personal insight and relationship with the underprivileged and vulnerable men, women and children that he encounters along the way.

IIM Calcutta CEI also conducts the annual Entrepreneurship Summit at IIMC inviting distinguished entrepreneurs such as Sanjeev Bhikhchandani (Founder and CEO, naukri.com), Mr. Kunwer Sachdev (CEO, Su-Kam Power Systems), Mr. Sharath Babu (FoodKing Catering), Sandipan Chakravortty (Managing Director, Tata Ryerson Ltd), Mr. Bikram Dasgupta (GlobSyn), Mr. Abhijan Ganguli (Regional Manager, NEN), Mr. Abhishek Rungta (Founder and CEO, Indus Net Technologies), Mr. Arup Dasgupta (Managing Director, Metalogic Systems) and Mr. Rajiv Mantri.
