IIM B placements
IIM Bangalore’s Placement Season is off to a good start with good number of recruiters participating in the Pre-Placement activity for final placements of batch 2010-12, and for the Summer Internships of the new batch of 2011-13.
The Class of 2012 at IIMB has already received 71 Pre-Placement Offers (PPOs) and requests for 37 Pre-Placement Interviews (PPIs).
Management Consulting firms including A. T. Kearney, Bain & Co., Boston Consulting Group and McKinsey & Co. have made offers in substantial numbers, reaffirming the Institute’s position as the preferred destination for consulting firms. Other major management consulting firms that have made PPOs so far are Booz & Co., Global e-Procure and Hay Group.
International financial firms including Blackstone (London), Barclays Capital, Deutsche Bank (Global Markets, London), Goldman Sachs, J P Morgan, Morgan Stanley, Nomura, RBS, Standard Chartered (Global Markets) and UAE Exchange have extended offers to IIMB students. Most of these offers have been made for international locations such as Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Hong Kong, London and Singapore.
General Management conglomerates such as the Aditya Birla Group & TAS, FMCG majors , including HUL, P & G and Pepsi along with Microsoft, American Express and Philips have also made pre-placement offers.
Commenting on the outlook, Prof. P D Jose, Chairperson, Career Development Services, IIMB said, “This year the conversion rate for consulting firms was in excess of 90% with a large number of interns being offered permanent positions by these firms. Simultaneously we are also witnessing a strong demand for Summer Internship placement, and pre-placement talks are in full swing.”
Sreekanth C S, a PGP2 student and member of the Placement Committee said, “We expect an increase in the number of PPOs this year as compared to the previous year. Most companies that have made these offers have already confirmed their participation in upcoming summer recruitment process. We expect to have a sound and successful summer placement session which begins on November 9.”
