IIM Ahmedabad hosts Art Mela
Ahmedabad, November 21: Finesse - the Fine Arts Club of IIM Ahmedabad in association with Bank of Baroda will organize the 2nd edition of its flagship Art Mela on 23rd & 24th November 2013. Started in 2012, the event gets bigger this year with workshops from renowned artists, art competitions, exhibitions and the national level design competition of IIM Ahmedabad titled ‘Abhivyakti’ slated to bring together the art enthusiasts and give them an opportunity to showcase their talent and at the same time learn from some of the best artists in the field.
Art Mela 2013 will see multiple workshops conducted by renowned professionals, such as the caricature workshop by Prof. Sekhar Mukherjee of the NID and a charcoal painting workshop by Mr. Giriraj Kadia of CEPT. As a precursor to the mela, a pot painting workshop by Ms Bhawana Maheshwari was organized on 20th November.
The flagship event of Art Mela ’13- Abhivyakti, is a national level design event which invites online submissions from students across India. The participants have to submit a piece of art which uses only 3 shapes - Triangles, Circles and Squares in both the foreground and background to communicate the theme of the event- Dreams. In the second phase of the event the participants will have to promote their art works on social media. Three entries in each category– Judge’s choice and popular choice will be awarded.
The event will also host the much awaited fashion design competition - Haute Couture – where participants have to design a dress using only paper and display it. There would also be a two day art exhibition which showcases the talents of all artists on campus on 23rd and 24th November.
