IIM a Shortcut to big money???

Recent years we have seen an IIM graduate starts more than 20 lakhs p.a.
Is it really a shortcut to big money. But to make to IIM is not an easy task. You not have only to qualify written test but also the Group Discussion where your skills are really tested. But does really an IIM tag justifies that you will be a good manager???? No,but yes big money is definitely waiting for you.....

If you read through all the interviews taken of corporates on mp in the voice of mpites section, you will recognize one statement that the college from which you graduate is only important for the first job that you accomplish. Post that it is all about performance.

If you have got a coveted seat in IIM, then you are already aware of what high performance means and chances are you will stand by those performance standards for the rest of your life.. which essentially converts in a great career path !

Yes Nida but if you see the trend then its not about memorizing things but its about your mind, your knowledge, your apptitude. If you have these things then no one can stop you to get into IIM's.

its a true fact that big money flows into the IIMs and pay packets offered in these campuses scale new highs. But i think its not fare to some extent.

Pranav can you elaborate why isn't it fare. People are more deserving in IIMs so if they are payed high salary then what is the problem??

You are trying to say IIM people are derserving....ok.But what about students of other good colleges like symbiosis,ISB,amity etc they are not deserving ha? Its looks like discriminate between students.Students of others colleges also study, they also do hardwork, they also prepare without sleepin all night.i think they also deserve high package for a job

Even these colleges also provide big packages but IIM is a brand name like IIT and IIM and IIT are known world wide. So student studying here gets higher exposure. Student of IIM always have edge than other MBA colleges students. Students of IIM has shown their credibility thats why they are in IIM. Admission process of IIM is not only on written basis but they see GD, 10th and 12th marks, academics, extra curricular activity, job experience, etc whereas in other colleges these points are not mandatory. So IIM students gets a higher package.

I feel getting into IIM itself involves hard work as much as a non IIM graduate would do to secure 20 lacs p.a. and we all know, it isnt that easy to get into IIM. So I dont think calling an IIM graduate "going through a 'short cut' to big money" is justified. After all, they have really worked hard even to get into this institution. In fact they deserve big money for their hard work!

its seems that IIMs have no other news or credit to share with the outside world, other than the levels of salaries the students are getting.

We never ever get to kno from any of the IIMs about the research, the areas in which the so called great professoers have excelled.I belive these insitutes are only capable of polishing the already existing talent who comes to themm, other than that we have never known about any other contributions of these IIMs to the world of management.
Its pathetic that these insitutes are having a delirious pleasure of having the levels of salaries.
