IIMA, March 8, 2014: Over 60 students from four colleges in the city participated in a panel discussion at IIM Ahmedabad organised on the occasion of Women’s Day. Apart from IIM A, students from DAIICT, Nirma University and Amrut Mody School of Management participated in this panel discussion.
Geeta Goradia, Managing Director of Jewel Consumer Care was the first panellist who spoke about unique strengths like multitasking and flexibility which women possess. She also spoke about the ability of women to take up every role in the industry and society which a man can take up.
The second panellist, Parul Mehta, COO of Motiff Inc talked about the importance of balancing work and life for women. She also stressed upon the need for creating a work environment where women can work as equally as men.
The third panellist for the day was Akanksha Thakore Srikrishnan, Founder of Ripple Effect. She talked about the need for women to break up the systematic beliefs which exists in the society about what women can do and cannot do.
The session was concluded by a talk from Prof Ajay Pandey, Dean (Faculty) at IIM A. He talked about the importance of parenting in the growth of a girl child.
This event was organized by The Women Leadership Society of IIM Ahmedabad, a student run organization started in 2013. It aims at developing and supporting women leadership within the IIM A community through continuous and engaging dialogue with women leaders across the country.
