IIM-A Confluence 2013 set to host Vinod Rai and C. Rangarajan

Ahmedabad, November 7: IIM Ahmedabad, the country’s premier B-school, is all set to play host to two of India’s most visible icons. As part of Confluence 2013, IIM-A’s annual International Business Summit to be held between 29 Nov – 1 Dec 2013, the institute will be visited by Mr. Vinod Rai, former Comptroller and Auditor General of India and Dr. C. Rangarajan, currently Chairman of the Prime Minister's Economic Advisory Council and ex-Governor of the Reserve Bank of India.

The two will be coming down on 30th November as part of Confluence’s flagship speaker session titled ‘The Global Turmoil and India Story’, which attempts to reflect upon the turbulent times that have beset the country and the resulting uncertainty in corporate decision making. Rizwan Ali, event secretary for Confluence 2013, points this out as one of the factors that was kept in mind while choosing this year’s theme. “We feel that it is vitally important to be able to understand global cues, foster innovative ideas, and take quick high-stake decisions. In such situations, a visionary leader, with a wealth of experience under his/her belt, can inspire and rally his/her people successfully through these turbulent times,” said Ali.

Mr. Vinod Rai is perhaps the most well-known CAG in contemporary India, playing a significant role in bringing accountability and transparency to corporate and policy transactions. He’s a graduate of the Delhi University in Economics and holds a Masters in Public Administration from Harvard University. In December 2011, he was chosen as the chief of the UN’s external Audit Panel. Dr. Chakravarthi Rangarajan is an eminent Indian economist and a distinguished former Member of Parliament and Ex-Governor of the Reserve Bank of India. Currently, he is the Chairman of the Prime Minister's Economic Advisory Council. A Padma Vibhushan awardee, Dr. Rangarajan is an alumnus of the Loyola College and the University of Pennsylvania and a honorary Fellow of the Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad.

Apart from speaker sessions on the India Story, Entrepreneurship and Inspiration, Confluence 2013 will also witness multiple business competitions, guest lectures, workshops and premier business quizzes. This includes Masterplan, the premier business plan contest and Bizquizzitive, the one-of-a-kind open business quiz competition. The three day event, into its 15th edition now, has seen a growing presence year after year with a participation of over 15,000 in 2012. The previous edition also saw sessions by Indian Hockey star Viren Rasquinha, Param Vir Chakra awardee Yogendra Yadav and best-selling author Amish Tripathi among others.
