Air Vents and Air Separators

Air removal from closed looped chilled water lines is always a tricky problem. • Most economical way is to use automatic airvents at the high points in chilled water line. • Logic is that air bubbles would rise up & go out through the air vent. •The chilled water normally consists of risers & horizontal pipes connecting them . If air gets locked in horizontal pipes, providing auto air vents at high points does not fully solve the problem. Use of centrifugal air separator & air vents will solve this problem & hence tall buildings with multiple horizontal line will have air separator & air vents.

For very large projects vacuum degasser may be used for removal of free as well as dissolved air from the chilled water lines.

Vacuum Degasser
•This primarily consists of Pump, tank & PLC. • It takes small quantity of system water in tank. • A solenoid valve closure will create vacuum in the tank because of pump suction. •This vacuum will release dissolved air from water. •In next cycle when additional water is taken in the tank, released air is forced out of the tank. •Thus the unit works continuously removing air from the water & make the system air free. • Automation is achieved by a PLC.

Thank you!!! Any ???? Go Ahead !!!
