How to reduce stampede in religious places

Hi MPians,
I am raising an important question about stampedes that take place almost regularly in religious places. Is the security enough to tackle the rushes of people ? Has the Govt taken adequate steps for stopping this stampedes? If you are a decision maker, what will be your strategy for dealing with this problem. Recently news has come about the killing of 6 persons and injury to several others in stampede in Puri Rath Yatra. So I would like your views as well as recommendations with regard to reduction of stampedes.

This is nice topic and an important topic to discuss.First reason I would say attribute to the stampede is the poor planning.Ppl won't plan as per the expectations.They won't do any intial reconnaissance on the no.of ppl for a particular place.Second is the lack of proper infrastructure to accomodate the excess crowd,in case.Ppl plan and provide infra only for 'x' no of ppl.Incase if there is an excess crowd there is obviously an unruly at tht place.Next is the organised way huv ppl should go and guiding the ppl thru proper path.Ppl coming to religious places will not know abt the arrangements made.So they tend go on any path which will make the things clumsy.So billboards or any maps provided on a proper place will make them aware of huv they must go about which will also ease the duty of volunteers at the place.Last but not the least always we need cops to manage and guide the place incase of emergency.

limit the no. of persons at one time, enforce rules strictly, change the timings, reconstruction of the infrastructure, are the thngs tht need to be taken care of if anymore recommendations i get ill post thm later.........
