To become a forest manager, the aspirant should possess master’s degree in forestry. The courses such as M.Sc in forestry are considered as basic qualification to get employed as forest manager. The postgraduate diploma course in forest management also helps an individual to obtain job as a forest manager. Such courses are offered through Indian Institute of Forest Management in India. Selection of employees to the forest department of government is done through competitive exams conducted by SSC, UPSC and so on.

Those who possess bachelor of agricultural technology in forestry can also apply for the post of forest manager.
