Has the newspaper lost its sheen in this digital world?

Newspaper is the only source of Information before the advent of TV,Radio or
Internet.In most of the houses the first GM would be to the newspaper with a hot coffee in hand.This is a pleasant experience.Retired people can be easily spotted with the no.of hrs he/she is spending with the Newspaper.The Newspaper crossword is a absolute time-pass and most people enjoy doing it.After the entry of Television people started to get the updates on TV than spending time with the Newspaper.In this internet era,people don't even glance at the Newspaper.They are glued to the laptops to get the updates.Moreover they can get all the analysis from the internet or from the TV.

Has the newspaper lost its sheen in the this digital world?

Hi Deepak,

I agree with born2rule. In addition I also feel that News papers are also time savers some times as we can directly move on to the section which contains desired news. Moreover, for local (state and City) news, we have to rely on news papers as TV can not provide detailed local news. I also feel that TV News channels some times spread unnecessary words and also put their bias into news and we are unable to hold them responsible for it. But in case of news papers, it is printed and thats why sometimes (Rarely, though) we may find correction in the news. I have never seen any regret expressed by any TV Channel about false news. Also Sometimes TV channels obtain old videos and use them to show as a news which may or may not be correct as we can not judge the date from video.
I believe that News Papers are the best source of Information on all topics.

hey friend i think that the problem which we can see with the newspaper is the time..... it takes a lot of time to read a newspaper in comparison to the digital media...
also there is a problem of different news as also discussed earlier in a debate related to views and news in newspaper...

i dont think so. its always pleasant to read the newspapers than to read anything on computer screen. also, in a country like ours, where the internet penetration is so low, newspapers are the major source of information and knowledge for people.

I dont think that newspaper will ever loose its sheen even though epapers are available..both can exist side by side.

yes. more or less we can say so. however a generalisation would be unjust as this trend is mainly observable in the youth who are more prone to using technological alternatives to the newspaper.

Any media, be it Digital or whatever, can't match the Daily Morning NEWSPAPER. We have cell-phones, TV, PC, and now iPads, but a Newspaper dose can't be matched in any way.

there is no substitute for newspaper.... TV, internet are good ...but these are different media types. there are some reasons, why newspaper has its sheen in digital world.
- People are habitual for reading(newspaper).
- Digital media affects human body very badly
- Integrity with Various segments in newspaper (sports, politics, business,
intertainment etc)
- Economic medium to reach the masses.

Yeah obviously no one has time to read Newspaper everyday ... Now a dayz even a 8 year kid is Net savvy ....No body has the time and patience to read a newspaper....Most of them prefer e-paper now

I am not agree that newspaper lost it shine because i am still reading newspaper and i am addict of it. Wherever i am i need it first at the morning when i wake up and read news. For me it will never lost its shine as it contains many articles, magazines and good thoughts.
