Government's decision to levy a green tax on all vehicles that are more than 15 years old, is a sly move to earn more revenue & has got liitle to do with pollution control.
The aim was to curb vechicular pollution and to penalise the person responsible for pollution. Very little is done to improve public transport system, instead all the blame is put on the tax payer for hte pollution and is asked to pay more taxes.
Although the transport department has made very few efforts to keep the pollution in control emission of gases and just five percent of the total vechicles are being inspected.
Inspite, of such delay and no seriousness in as regards duty; is this Green tax a due burden on the tax payers. Normally five hundered is collected as green tax from the payers. Even the amount of fines has gone down for sure. Should green tax prevail or should it be curbed?
