First Entrepreneurship Conference organised by Great Lakes
Inaugural Key speaker for the event is Mr. Lakshmi Narayanan, Vice Chairman, Cognizant Technology Solutions
A premier B-School in Chennai, Great Lakes Institute of Management will organise the first International Entrepreneurship Conference titled “Entrepreneurship - moving beyond the metros”, on Monday, 15th Dec’2008 at Hotel GRT Grand, Chennai. It is an initiative of the Great Lakes for furthering the cause of Entrepreneurship.
The conference will focus on the cause of Entrepreneurship in Tier 2 & Tier 3 cities by inspiring the entrepreneurial ecosystem players to take entrepreneurship beyond the metros to those cities.
According to Dr Bala V Balachandran, Founder & Dean, Great Lakes Institute of Management, “Entrepreneurship is at the heart of economic growth of any nation, and India must also create and nurture entrepreneurs in large numbers in order to sustain the enviable growth it has been able to generate in the last decade, and to reach the global economic leadership status that it is expecting to achieve. In this endeavor the Business Schools have a significant role to play, by way of developing and disseminating the requisite knowledge, models, methods and processes, besides training and developing the entrepreneurs and Entrepreneur inside existing organizations.”
The conference will bring together thought leaders from academia and real entrepreneurial ecosystem. It will provide a platform to exchange and share the knowledge among the various players like entrepreneurs, aspiring entrepreneurs, academic researchers, and entrepreneurial professionals like VC & angels and policy makers.
The conference would comprise of keynote addresses, panel discussions and academics thought sharing presentations. Keynote speakers and members of panel discussions include faculty from famous business schools, renowned entrepreneurs, policy makers, VCs and angel investors. Mr. Lakshmi Narayanan, Vice Chairman, Cognizant Technology will give the inaugural keynote address.
Today, Entrepreneurship is confined within Metros and does not help in bringing about a social and economic significant revolution in regional development. The conference theme is to make entrepreneurship a high impact interventional social philosophy and application. In this time of turmoil due to global financial meltdown, facilitating and fostering entrepreneurship in Tier 2 and Tier 3 cities will help gain economic freedom and sustainability of the regions.
